I only have two "canon" characters, and I'm about to redo one (my elven mage who was the very first playthrough that I finished). They're Neve, my elven mage who romanced Alistair and concentrated on being a Grey Warden with him. The other is Aurora Cousland, who became queen with Alistair and the only character of mine who has been through Awakening. Probably my only character at that.

Yea I only have 2 canon characters as well. Paragon Chancellor Dain Aeducan and King-Consort Arcturus Cousland (the one madly in love with Morrigan).

And I've done 3 Awakening playthroughs and will start the fourth with Dain tomorrow.

You're seriously putting letting Loghain live on the same level as putting Harrowmont on the throne?

No...hence the "lol"

I've let him live exactly once, on a vengeful HNF Rogue...for no other reason than I hadn't done it, and decided the best revenge for him was to be a warden, take part in Morrigan's ritual, get nowhere near the arch demon in the final battle, get stuck on recruiting duty, and then sent to Orlais. She betrayed Alistair for her own off the wall revenge on the S.O.B. that  put a bounty on their heads, sent assassins after them, and rewarded Howe after what he did to her, and her family.

As for Aidan...I just completely lost control of the playthrough and she ended up surprising me at every turn...so really if Loghain had somehow lived, it wouldn't have surprised me...lol I haven't had a playthrough this random since my very first...who by the way did accidently spare Loghain. Ahh the old days, didn't know to save manually, and couldn't back out of the conversation...

Oh, I hear that. My DN kept refusing to do things that she thought would make her look weak. So no romantic goodbye with Gorim, she didn't make a scene in Denerim, she killed some people I would have rather spared...at least she was consistent, though. Posted Image

Did Arcturus go after Morrigan or stay around court? The only Male Cousland I did married Anora and stayed in court (Bastien Cousland, who is in Delete Heaven now:innocent:)

I actually have eight canon characters but some of them aren't exactly...suited for their job. My HM, for instance, is probably the most vapid self-centered character I have ever created. Still, that was definitely a fun playthougth.

I should video that dialogue.  It's not on YouTube and I guess it should be.  Really need to learn how to upload videos.

Hmmm.  I wonder if I have a save on my Dalish where she can have that conversation with Alistair.  If so, I'll cap and upload video tomorrow.

I've got a video, but it's uploading slower than molasses.

Does it really take 90 minutes to upload a 2-minute video to YouTube or am I doing something wrong?  It's an .avi file.

Stayed at court, he had a job to do as King Consort, towards both himself and his nation. He is also Teyrn of Gwaren.

Have you read Lady Damodred's short Morrigan romance piece?
It's here, 2nd one: http://community.liv...bad/750149.html
LD was kind enough to write this after I requested it. It's based on Arcturus.

I don't think I have any canon characters yet, aside from potentially my Dalish which I am currently playing again so I can get her 'set' (mostly because Improved Atmosphere turned her previous save into a clusterf!!k of nudity and missing items). I have a couple of HNFs and a mage but I never really planned any sort of story or personality for them. I metagamed them heavily. I started a new HNF so that I could have one with a bit of life. I dunno what I'm gonna do with my DNF but I don't really click with her :/ I think I prefer the casteless origin for dwarves.

Aidan was consistent...consistently confused and inconsistent. Here's hoping a post as Warden Commander straightens her up. Bhelen was right, Orzammar poiltics would have eaten her alive, she wasn't ready to lead anyone, I guess she was Daddy's spoiled little princess afterall. But she's growing up...she isn't done yet.

I had a character like that. Salazar, a human mage (blood mage). I had lots of fun with that character.

I don't read a lot of fanfiction, I'll take a look at Lady's though, 'cause I hear she's good at writing^_^

I did two different endings with Bastien, mostly just to see what Anora would say if you went after Morrigan and she's basically like, "I heard she didn't want to be followed, but yeah, go. I'm not going to stop you." I'm betting she wanted you to go after your dark-haired sorceress lol

Yeah, the Morrigan romance is pretty heart-breaking. Of course, my heart got broken early on (what do you mean you aren't into women?:crying:) but even though I knew she was going to leave, I almost didn't finish the Siege of Denerim because then Bastien wouldn't get to see her anymore. I had to load a female character and get Ali!Fluff after that lol

I don't know if you still need an answer to this -- But, how is your file? If it's not compressed it could be over a GB, which would make it take a long time. I use Fraps and then compress the video using VirtualDub. You could also use something like Windows Movie Maker to compress the file.  The ones I've done haven't taken more than 15 minutes, give or take.

I'd love to see that scene when you get it uploaded!!

Good to know, I didn't compress it which would no doubt have done the trick.  An hour's worth of re-starting my HNF's game, that's all.  If I can get it uploaded, it will be the YouTube debut of Maricstair.  :wizard:

I'll sing tmp's praises again for the unisex leather armor.

HNF has a shape- how 'bout that.

Right now the quality is poor but YouTube says the vid is still being processed and that it should get better, whatever that means.

He's so much more supportive of Dalish traditions than dwarven ones that it's ridiculous. With the Dalish he's all 'oh, that's deep' and with the dwarves he goes 'you guys burn your dead? Weird...' Posted Image

You mean he talks about them being committed to the stone, right?  I do remember that with DNF it had a much different tone.  He's got a thing for elves, I think.  ;)

No, it's a pretty obvious romance line.  When he asks why you're with him instead of with Master Varathorn today like you're supposed to have done, you can tell him "I wanted to be with you, of course."  Your other options are something like "I wanted to get away" or "This is a punishment, actually".  (Yeah, okay, maybe I've done these dialogs too often.... >.>)

As far as his insistence with going down to the ruins, I can think of a few reasons.

1) You're Dalish.  Pretty much your entire existence revolves around collecting lost elven lore.  Hearing some shems talk about elven ruins is going to be pretty much a magnet for any Dalish to go exploring.

2) You're both Dalish hunters.  As Tamlen says "Dalish hunters aren't afraid of anything!"  It's naive, sure, but you're both young and think you're invincible.  Despite the potential danger, neither of you probably think that anything really could have gone wrong.

3)  Tamlen is in trouble with the Keeper for brawling.  He hoped that finding a piece of Dalish lore would put him back in her good graces, in addition to making a name for yourselves for finding something great.

Is it stupid and naive?  Sure, but you're both still considered children in the clan, so you're both on the very young side of things.  It's not really any more naive than either of the dwarves participating in the Proving trials, or the mage helping Jowan, or the city elf slaughtering Vaughn, IMO.

Well, that may be true for him but my character isn't really like that. She kept on saying that they should go back and inform the Keeper about it and that she wasn't sure it was a good idea. I guess by that point she saw there was no dissuading him so she went along to help him. I guess she was being stupid as well but as much as she wants to find anything about their history she's also cautious. Is cautiousness an atypical Dalish characteristic? Maybe my character is weird.

If you express guilt/remorse to the Keeper she tries to reassure you that she might have been tempted as well.  That whole lore thing they are pretty fanatic about.  Its within bounds of reason

those are just quick ficlets, Kryp.  You get a good feel for the situation in each one quickly.  They are very good indeed.  if youi like Morrigan you will like that one.
