She can learn.  She's with you in part so that she can become more powerful, so certainly she should be willing to learn.

I've learned to live without a spirit healer, but then I do play on Easy.

This. Heal is a must.

My mage doesn't know heal. I never have Morrigan learn it either.....

I used to think so too actually.  But between Cone of cold, force field and misdirection hex and she can peel a lot of damage off your tank without casting a single heal.  My last game (nightmare/no pots) was with her built for pure dps.  It went well!
