This is definitely true. I would like access to some DW talents, too. But I always take AW, because it fits my idea of mages being warriors as well as casters. You should at least be able to use a dagger if you're going to be fighting. On my last elf mage, I never even activated Combat Magic, but using the Forgotten daggers, she could switch to dagger and get her own shatters after casting Cone of Cold. It's awesome.cmessaz wrote...
I love the heck out of battle mage. AW would be better to me if I could pick up some skills, like shield bash, etc.
This illustrates my happy vision of mages who look and act like warriors and not just fluffy bunnies:
In addition to this, she didn't leave the castle undefended (you can actually ask Ser Perth about that). All those corpses you fight on your way to Connor are her former soldiers.Herr Uhl wrote...

I was just kidding about Morrigan, but I like her because she isn't perfect. She stands up for herself, but she allows hatred to sway her too easily.
Isolde is just stupid. Not only does she allow a apostate into her home (which she didn't know, I'll give her that) but when her husband got sick, she didn't even consider that he was poisoned? Especially when the healers can't heal him? And instead of keeping some of her knights to protect her and the castle, she sends them all off to search for a magical relic. She is an arlessa, with quite a bit of money. She couldn't hire scholars?
And not only that, she is unconcerned when she's sees the destruction she's wrought. Morrigan is misguided by years of abuse and having Flemeth as her mother. Isolde is just stupid.
Didn't she try to find Genitivi? He is a scholarly as they come. And bann Awesome (as he is known here) does the exact same thing, once there is no trouble. Ergo, the same thing as Isolde.
Yeah I forgot to add that.Herr Uhl wrote...

Those are Forgotten daggers, but with tmp's Rescaled Swords and Daggers mod, it actually makes them look bigger. I believe he said it's because they're made on a qunari model. But I happily let my mage look so badass as to be a dual-sword wielder, especially now that she's channeling Duncan. Edit: And since Ali was a dual-longsword wielder in her game, you know where she learned how to use 'em.Zeleen wrote...

Cowardly and selfish people don't sacrifice themselves to save someone else. Truly cowardly and selfish Isolde would have long ago gotten the posessed kid killed, the poisoned husband dumped in the lake (with all honours of course) and officially hooked up with Teagan. Instead she's trying actively to protect and save these important to her.Kryyptehk wrote...
No, I can understand MILF love. Trust me. But the thought that she has any good qualities besides her looks is ridiculous. She's cowardly, stupid and selfish.
Think the only complaint i could make about her is, she doesn't care about the fate of peasants. But that's pretty much par for the course in that setting.
My blood mage did, and it was a kick butt cutscene. Killing Connor will probably be impossible for me.LadyDamodred wrote...
I must confess, I have yet to kill Isolde. I've killed Connor once, but not for keeps. I just cannot bring any character to do those things. :x

DW Ali FTW
It still seems a bit wrong to blame the victim here. Yeah it wasn't the smartest move, but Jowan is still the one who took advantage of her desperation. Her intentions were good natured, things just blew up in her face... badly.Kryyptehk wrote...

Yeah, but the Warden doesn't care about that. Miss "I will not lose my son to magic" should care.
Once you find out what Zathrian did, you could see his clan as too great a threat to the surrounding human populace to let it pass. They are spreading werewolf sickness just like the Blight is spreading Blight sickness. It's sort of hard to justify slaughtering the whole camp for Zathrian's malice, though. They're pretty much in the dark. You do find out that Lanaya suspected all along that he was involved with the werewolf curse, but only afterwards. Also, technically it's the werewolves who are spreading the sickness. I think your PC just has to be the bloodthirsty type.cmessaz wrote...

Yeah, I think that too. I don't think any of my other PCs will be able to do this, so I think this blood mage is my last option. But she is not bloodthirsty, so I am finding it hard to justify.Addai67 wrote...

As a mage I hate Isolde, because of her whole "oh no my son has magic" bs. So I had no problem killing her.
The rest of my characters despise her voice, but spare her.

I didn't realize it was for both genders.. now all I need is the mod that takes away restrictions.
I've actually been playing so waaaay behind on the forum... but have some nice pics to upload later...
I've also been cleaning out my Fraps... OMG
No I see it as she thinks it is evil to have magic. Her son being taken is not the only problem, at least thats what I understand.Herr Uhl wrote...

Yeah, she doesn't want to send her son away only to see him at sporadic occasions. Her son having magic is pretty devastating.
