It's the scene where he says "And you can just think of me as some fool who was too lucky to die with the rest of the Grey Wardens" to which you can say "What does that make me?"

You have to be at a particular affection rating - Addai will probably have to tell you what it is since I'm a console player.  Otherwise he'll say something like "The reason I think we have a chance of fixing this" or something like that.  This particular line though is sooooo sweet.

Is this a romance starter line? Cause I have never seen this response to any of the thigns I tell him.

Addai will have to confirm, and she'll still have to give you the affection rating, but I checked with someone else, and we're pretty sure you can't be in a romance with him to get that line, but need to be right on the verge as far as affection rating goes.

Oooh, she almost  looks badass in that picture.  If she wasn't so adorable it would be kind of intimidating ^_^

It's cute to see her try, though, lmao. I don't think you have to look intimidating when you're able to hurl fireballs from your hands anyway B)

Yeah, I'm not sure why so many people need their PC to look fierce. I'd rather they look more innocent so it's more of a surprise when they, say, cut off your arm and beat you to death with it. Posted Image

Is this possibly the nicest thing Alistair can say to a PC who hardly knows him?  My Dalish girl's eyes were as big as saucers after this, I imagine.  Who knew a shem could be so sweet.  *categories blown*

Oh gosh he got my Dalish with that line too.  And then he just walks off while she swoons.....

I don't know if that will make it into the fic, but I LOVED that in the game.

I just went back and tried the line that triggers this. Aww.... I usually go with 'That's not really what you think, is it?', which also has some nice lines.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't a romance trigger, because it's very close to some other lines that you can get that aren't. I trigger the romance in conversation while we're preparinig the village by starting the conversation about why he kept it secret, and triggering it with 'I do care about you, etc.'

Have you ever tried the "That's not really what you think, is it?" line when he's hostile with your Warden?  He says "No...no, I guess I don't really feel that lucky."

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

It makes me want to hug him, except that he's, you know, hostile with your Warden and all.

Oh ouch.  Alistair has some pretty cutting lines when he's pissed at the Warden.  Why can't he be that snappy all the time?  I'd actually like the guy more I think.

He doesn't even have to be hostile for that. One time I reloaded and went to redcliffe forgetting that I hadn't asked him about Duncan, or Arl Eamon raising him, and got that. And he just spews out the whole thing about Isolde and the Cantry and his mother's locket--then tells you how unlucky he feels. It's sad upon sad.... The only up side is that you can then trigger the romance in the next conversation and surprise the heck out of him. ;) I prefer to be friends before getting to Redcliffe, though.

I love Steve Valentine's voice acting for this whole scene about why he didn't tell you.  Awesome, awesome job.

That, and the scene entering Redcliffe are two of my favorite exchanges.

What prompts that line? And is it a good line or a bad one?

That's the romance starter line "I do like you, and not for your blood."

My HNF feels a little bad when he tells her in that conversation that he's terrified of becoming king.  In her head, she's like 'Oh, sweetie, you're gonna have to get over that."

Sorry, husband has assumed the position (i.e., taken back his PC for an hour or two) so I will have to check approval level on that Redcliffe line later.  But I'm pretty sure Idun has NOT turned the romance on.  I was trying to avoid it for now, at least, and I think I know at least all the early triggers.

I don't think that line can be a romance trigger, either, because all she's asking him is if he really thinks he's some nobody.  It's one reason why his response is so shockingly sweet.  At this early stage she would feel she has done nothing to deserve such a compliment except be concerned about him with Duncan.  She hadn't even asked him about Eamon yet- he spilled out the whole story in that conversation.  And omigod, I just remembered that she called him a stupid oaf when he was stuck in his Fade dream.  She is going to feel like such a heel when she sits down and thinks about what that demon-Goldanna bit means in light of what he just told her.  :crying::crying::crying:

She's not really swooning yet- grieving too much for Tamlen still.  But it is still a big shock, I'm sure, to see a human man be so... Alistair.  And she's about to go see a human man be so... Teagan.  As a mage, even.  *categories way, way, way blown*

Heh, like LadyD says, you tell him you like him and not because of his blood. I picked that line on my romanceless dwarf because it looked like a friendship line. I didn't realize it was a romance starter until he immediately followed that up with a rose. What? No. *reload* (I was roleplaying a crush on Oghren for that game. What? I said roleplaying!)

I still don't understand how you managed to RP a crush on Oghren of all people, Gilsa. Was it your DN or DC?

Gah...I finally got Jaina through the tower origin, and didn't have fraps running for the Awesome of Duncan that ensues when you fully take Jowan's side. There I was telling Irving he never cared about his apprentices, and that he was a chantry kissbutt (I felt pretty bad saying that, I know it's not true), and no screenshots! Gah, Guess I'll redo it. Better yet, since my last warden had zev, maybe I'll do an Alistair romance, less temptation the next time. As soon as I saw him on Jaina I was tempted, so...yeah. Redo Lyra as a Dalish mage maybe? instead of a rogue...she's backtracked to Lothering so...it's just as easy one way or another.

DC! They were both screw-ups, what's not to like? =p I didn't like him in Awakening at all so yeah, I was way over that by the time I imported the DC over.

When you're not interested in humans or elves, Oghren looks pretty good unless you have room and board at the Pearl on a regular basis. Still no dwarf/dwarf mods though!

No no, as someone already said, that's the line he gives for Neutral, not hostile.  He really is that despondent at that point.  People say he is whiney and doesn't take responsibility, but I don't think they're taking into account how devastated he is compared to the relatively mild ways he shows it.  Naturally, the PC is probably also having a, you know, rough patch.  Family murdered, kidnapped by Vaughn, exiled, that sort of thing.  But both of you are still keepin on keepin on.

Oddly I found him tempting on my Aeducan...I can't even explain it. He treated her so much differently than any other race. For example...all those "what's wrong Oghren" options? He actually TOLD her.

I keep seeing people say that but I don't get it. He (if you side with him in the origin) goes out of his way to nail Lily...if one of his mages is going down, by the maker one of THEM is too...then rewards you by having Duncan show up and recruit you to freedom.

Well, there's the excessive drinking which would probably turn the DC off given the situation with their mother, the fact he goes out of his way to be gross, the fact he appears to be in it for the lulz, what Felsi tells you and his way of flirting with her...

Honestly, if someone was trying to flirt with me and started by asking if I were a baker because I had a nice pair of buns I'd probably kick them. Of course, Felsi appeared to go for it.

Yeah, exactly. Both the commoner and Oghren were casteless so they had something in common.

Here's the difference between the noble and the commoner conversations when you ask Oghren if he misses Orzammar. He speaks without thinking when he tells the commoner he'd rather be dead than casteless and apologizes when he realizes his gaffe.

Haha if people saw the way my husband and I go back and forth in "flirting" they'd probably think I should too, but it's just how we are together. Seriously, we'll wrestle like bratty siblings at times...lol
