Huh. I didn't realize there was a Landsmeet path that didn't have Anora calling for Alistair's execution. Weird. I guess it's b/c I never make her queen.

Yes, in my only game where I made Anora sole ruler, she just made Alistair swear fealty.  He was unhardened so he did that in a heartbeat.  I was more upset about it than he was.  Never did that again.  I might be prejudiced from liking book Maric so much, but Alistair is just meant to be king in my view.

What's the response when he's hardened and she asks that.  Like you said when he's unhardened he has np swearing to her but how about him hardened.

I have used these for creating names in D&D.  For me, I tend to reuse names of D&D characters I've had.  Writing fanfic let's me through in a bunch of names I wouldn't get to use otherwise.  ^_^

In truth, if I'm not a human noble and I intend to make him king, I dump him or allow him to dump me after the landsmeet. I can't stand to be his mistress. Just a personal preference.

I don't like the dialogue, at all, in general probably.

Some ideas suffer from game mechanics and this is one of them. But I like the general idea, especially after Addai67 and ... uh, SurelyForth introduced the Dune reference. Now I really like the idea ... but still loathe the stupid dialogue.

Why couldn't hardened Alistair ask if she wants to stay with him?

I just can't share him. And my characters that aren't going to be queen don't want to hang out in denerim. Plus the breakup is actually kind of sweet. My characters are to proud to be a mistress.

I figure that's why so many here are rolling HNFs.  No question, the mistress ending is bittersweet.  I figure my character has to be "hardened" herself.  I also try to think of my PCs not as modern women, but as people who grew up in a harsh society and one very pragmatic about politics and survival.  That is another reason it works, for me, with DEF.  Dalish are idealists, but forced into a very harsh, survival-based existence.  She is willing to share Alistair with the kingdom because she understands that a good king is the literal survival of a nation, especially one so threatened and fractured as Ferelden.  But she's not willing to give him up, because they are still in it together and each of them is the only sweetness that the other has in life.

Yup, same thing.  I can't ever make him not king.  Alistair agrees:

I actually like the second better, I think, since you can create the name to mean what you want.  And if you don't like exactly how it would read, you can easily drop/add letters.

My Dalish and Alistair are doomed from the start. She realized this before the landsmeet and broke it off. She misses her clan and will return to them when she can. She never wanted to be a grey warden in the first place.

Because that is not his nature.  He is very much the archtype of a knight, all duty and nobility and honor.  When it was just him, he could afford to think about himself.  When you make him king, that's not an option for him, not the way he sees it.  I wouldn't change that about him.  Isn't that why we love him?

Way to take charge there, Mr. King >< I don't see this ending well, lmao.

Anora: We do. I believe this is what King Maric wanted, to se his blood tied to my father's to being a new line of Fereldan kings.

Alistair: But I... I mean... I-I did swear an oath. What I mean is, I'm all for founding a new line of kings, but... well, there's the Blight....

Anora: What the king is trying to say, my lords and ladies, is that he will be taking the field with his fellow Grey Warden to do battle with the Archdemon.

Alistair: Uh, yes. That.

:o This is a dialogue from the game? I hope, he's unhardened.

When did he swear an oath anway? My PC never swore any oath.

He still does his duty despite his qualms (either about a mistress or about the baby problem), he just reserves some personal happiness in the midst of it.

The way I see it, he doesn't suggest it because it doesn't occur to him that this is how he can live his life.  When your PC suggests it, it's like a light goes on.  "You mean I can do that?"  I for one am very happy to say "yes, you can do that."  And because he also doesn't think he deserves happiness (he is fully expecting to lose you), I think it goes a long way for him to hear your PC say "and yes, I want to do that."

No, I think that's hardened, too.  What a b*tch.  LOL  (at least my PC had the decency to whisper suggestions in his ear)

Yes, that is dialogue from the game. And he totally is hardened, which is why I had to shake my head at that. I kill Loghain, Anora totally takes charge while he's being all flustered... I might as well have married Anora myself, lol.

Hm. Usually what I end up doing is giving them wider eyes and then adjusting them with the 'squint' feature so she doesn't look so surprised xD
