In everything but the formal, my PC is his wife, and it's only racism and the political reality that forces them to bow to the formality. The queen is the figurehead. She gets to have power, my PC gets to have the man. That is why I see Anora serving this role as preferable to Bimbo Bannorn- with Anora, you know she is a) experienced in how it works, andpower-hungry enough that this is actually giving her what she most wants. In this society, everyone knows how this game is played.
As for it being degrading, yes it is, but as an elf, you live degradation in Ferelden one way or another. As chancellor-mistress, you get the last laugh.
I really like this: Post coronation, with Alistair marrying Anora:
AL: "At any rate, I can't wait to be alone with you. These formal affairs drive me insane."
PC: "And what about Anora?"
AL: "Let her get her own conquering hero. I have mine."

Aww that's sweet, but still I can't get myself to do that lol.

The only Landsmeet outcome that is particularly good for Ferelden is Alistair solo ruling anyhow.

I don't really see how the HNF and Alistair ruling jointly is bad for Ferelden. Sure, they may not be able to provide an heir by the usual means but it's not impossible to appoint an heir at a later date, especially with support of a Landsmeet. The Theirin line continuing is never really a big deal to anyone except when it comes to actually getting Alistair on the throne or for making excuses, since it is an accepted choice to not make Alistair king at all. Otherwise it seems that your PC and Alistair are fairly capable and can do real good for the country. It's not like they attained the throne through usual means either xD
I agree. I think PC + hardened Alistair is probably the best outcome...unless your pc is a twit somehow. XD

Way to take charge there, Mr. King >< I don't see this ending well, lmao.
Anora: We do. I believe this is what King Maric wanted, to se his blood tied to my father's to being a new line of Fereldan kings.
Alistair: But I... I mean... I-I did swear an oath. What I mean is, I'm all for founding a new line of kings, but... well, there's the Blight....
Anora: What the king is trying to say, my lords and ladies, is that he will be taking the field with his fellow Grey Warden to do battle with the Archdemon.
Alistair: Uh, yes. That. This is a dialogue from the game? I hope, he's unhardened.
When did he swear an oath anway? My PC never swore any oath.
What a %itch!! She will NEVER get her hands on Alistair - Thierin blood tied to Mac Tir; my ass!!

not even Male COusland+Anora is getting an heir even if you SPARE Loghain
you have a lulzy conversation with you father in law in awakening where he asks anora about the heir situation and she was utterly horrified at the thought

I think HNF and Alistair ruling together is the BEST for Ferelden. You have have a Cousland and a Theirin, married. That makes the best paring in my opinion. Anorna never had a child (and never will if you make her Queen). She has no business being Queen regnant anyway if there is Alistair and if not him them Fergus should be next in line to the Throne, not Anora (%itch).

To be honest it seems to be set up so that no matter what your choices there won't an heir produced by the normal means. Some outcomes have more of a possibility than others but it doesn't seem to be happening. What this means for the future and sequels... who knows?
So that means it's up to Fergus

I am holding out hope that we get an heir somehow out of Cousland female/Alistair Royal couple via magical means. Come on we need a good storyline continuation from Bioware, please.
This route can only end in tears and heartbreak. Look at the hoops you have to jump through to just survive together. If BW gave Queen Cousland a wee Bryce Duncan Theirin, either she or Alistair would end up assassinated or exiled or maimed or frozen in carbonite.
Not to mention- very unfair to non-HNs.

Personally, I don't mind the 'not having kids' bit. But maybe that's just me.
I agree with ya. It's not like Alistair and the PC MUST have a child. An heir can be named from elsewhere. Possibly Fergus if he ever remarries and his wife has a child. Eamon seems to be the only one that believes there must be a Theirin on the throne. The other nobles don't seem to really care as long as the ruler is good at what they do and not a tyrant.
