Most of the time they don't smell like anything really.  I mean I don't really notice any smell in the heat of the moment. 
The only time I ever noticed an odor the girl smelled like gym socks .  But that's it.

I would say most women tend to keep their vaginal area as clean as possible.  There's general a subtle change in smell a few days before a woman bleeds.  It's more hormonal smelling I suppose.
