Yeah, as I said my issue isn't that he's traveling because that makes sense. It's why such a specific instance was included in an epilogue without giving more closure.
I mean, even the hilarious "The queen disappeared from court but her adventures aren't over yet and the country isn't in a state of panic because one of their monarchs disappeared LOLLOL" slide in Awakening was epilogue appropriate IMO because while it didn't exactly tell you what happened it was fairly general. I dunno. I'm explaining myself poorly. It's just weird, I think.
I think it's a bug. That it checks to see if you're in a royal marriage and automatically counts Alistair the same as Anora. There's no reason for Anora to go with the HNM so, it does the same for Alistair for the HNF. It's the only thing that would make sense since he runs off with his mistress if he's solo ruling.
That makes a lot of sense. Plus, I just can't see any scenario where the PC queen would run off by herself and Alistair would just shrug his shoulders and say "Lol, whatever."
Well my last playthrough in Origin's I had married unhardened Alistair, become chancellor and even with the ending for Awakening's I still took off by myself and I was thinking wtf. Why would I just take off by myself for 1 since I was queen, 2) Not only was I the Queen but I was also the Chancellor. Unless there was something that came up that was of the upmost importance, that would be my only reasoning. I hope our story's don't end like that up in the air lol. I'd be very frustrated.

Ali: Well, how about a bit 'alonetime' in your tent? *waggles eyebrows*
PC: Love, it's been a hard day with killing and stuff. I'm tired and would rather sleep. Alone.
Ali: Oh. But we don't have to...you know *blushes*
PC: Still I rather would sleep alone.
Ali:
PC: *sigh* ...okay you can come. But keep your hands where I can see them.
Ali: Yes, my dear. *thinks* works every time
Lmao I like that. That's cute

Oh, we were talking about the slide for Awakening. Everyone else that is in a relationship with Alistair aside from the Queen he runs off with (if he isn't King or if you're his mistress (even if he's solo ruling)). If you're the Queen you run off alone though. Which is why I think it's a bug since the HNM would run off alone. It must only check to see if you're in a royal marriage not who you're married to.
I'm not sure about the Weisshaupt thing. I've never got that slider in Origins. Mine is always that Alistair becomes a good king (he's hardened) and that he adores his Queen and the people of Ferelden rejoice.

What fortress would be be called to if not Weisshaupt?

Yeah, after everything the PC does just to get to that point, I don't see any sort of reason why the queen (or king for HNM) would leave, unless it's time for them to go down swinging in the Deep Roads. In that case I don't see why Alistair wouldn't go with, since he should be at that stage as well. There's just no reason for any of them to abandon everything they worked for and the person they married either not give a damn, or for the nation to be unconcerned. For all they know we could be lying dead in a ditch somewhere

See, I see no problem with the Awakening slide. It makes no sense for both monarchs to up and leave without any explanation. It would throw the country into turmoil. It's the mistress slide that doesn't make any sense to me.

Yeah, I think if he were gonna get called off Weisshaupt makes sense. It's just that he leaves to wherever but it is uncertain whether or not he comes back that bothers me (not that he travels in general).

If there were reason, I'd agree. But it doesn't really specify why you just suddenly disappear so it is strange that you'd just quietly disappear. I think the PC in any situation wouldn't abandon the throne without a damn good reason. There may very well be a damn good reason given later, but for now it's just... yeah.

Well, I mean if they're actually leaving to do something for the Wardens vs just casually taking off I can see someone being named reagent for the time being. Eamon could easily run the country. Though I'd think he'd object to Alistair leaving even if he was requested to by his superior Wardens.
It seems to me that they're setting it up for either more DLC or DA2. I for one really love Alistair, Zev and Leliana so, I would be happy if DA2 is still about our same Warden and his/her companions. It would be pretty cool if they take the best companions of Origins and Awakenings and then use them for DA2. Anders, Leliana and Alistair would be a pretty win party.

The whole thing really doesn't make much sense in the contect that it's given. It would be odd for the PC to give up being Commander of the Grey to return to Alistair and Court only to mysterously leave again.

If there are plans to continue your PC's story, then this could make perfect sense. You are needed urgently for something, and have to leave. People aren't going to go around shouting where you're headed.
I had a lot of issues with Awakenings slides. There were some that were incredibly specific, and some that were incredibly not specific. I was fine with the little bit of mystery in Origins. Alistair being called and vowing to come back, etc... With Awakening, there is absolutely no time frame to place your disappearance in.
I agree that if it were 25-30 years in the future, that yes, you and Alistair went off to your Calling together. But I didn't get that feel from it. I just have NO idea why the king and his mistress disappear together.

Yup, I believe Alistair can be quite sneaky at times. Innocent chantry boy? Nope. I don't buy that.
(And since I can't contribute anything to the slider talk as a poor XBox gamer, I thought I write some nonsense instead

Exactly. I think what bugged me more than leaving though is how.... inconsequential it seemed. The queen disappears without reason and everyone just says "We know her adventures aren't over, lolz!!!1"

I hated that it said I never returned to Vigil's Keep. Really? I am the former Warden-Commander, and I wouldn't visit a keep I helped save (which is filled with my friends, incidentally) EVER AGAIN IN MY WHOLE LIFE?! Like, wtf?

The only reason I could come up with in that situation was Morrigan secretly contacting the PC and telling her something had gone wrong with the old god child. Something dire that would require the PC's attention above all else so she leaves to hunt down morrigan/child. I doubt the PC would tell Alistair since that would be his fears concerning the child coming true and who knows what his reaction would be.
At least thats what I'm going with until bioware says otherwise... I can't really think of anything else that would be so important to just up and leave without saying a word to anyone.

Well, if his wife suddenly disappeared without notice, I don't think Alistair just take it lying down. I think if you leave and he stays, he has to have some idea that you're leaving.

I think it's because he's not being acknowledged as king in those slides unless he's married to the PC. I'm almost positive it's the same ending for mistresses as it is for those who romanced non-King Alistair.
It's just like the slides you get in Origins if you tell him you're traveling or rebuilding the Wardens; the cards indicate that he is also traveling or rebuilding the Wardens even though he should, in fact, be king-ing. His role is being dictated by the PC's choices/role rather than his status.
