I have to be honest Skadi....my husband and I are shopping for another house in the middle of nowhere. He lived in Brooklyn for many years, and I lived in North Jersey. We want something where we can't jerk our neighbors off by sticking our hand out the window....*sorry, some Jersey came out there*
We want woods and land and nothingness.
The grass is greener. We have woods and land and nothingness (and are surrounded by cows, tons and tons of cows) and, except for the prettiness, I hate it so much. I can't do anything spur of the moment with my friends because just running to get ice cream is an hour long endeavor, and that's if I manage to avoid getting behind any tractors, Amish buggies or college kids on bicycles. And it's so quiet at night, it makes me a little crazy. I would kill to live within walking distance of a grocery store or be piled into a nifty old apartment complex.
Of course, I live in a smallish college town, so I've not had to contend with city crazy, I just know I dislike living in the country.
