I'd like to be out in the middle of nowhere too. Because that would mean no people. No annoying well wishers to disturb my daytime sleep by pounding on my door asking for cigarettes. And being able to walk out my front door without stepping in mule ****.
But the problem is living in a village out in the middle of nowhere. You're basically trapped amongst morons, and it's an hour's drive to the nearest town where they don't have relatives.
Where are you that there is that much mule feces?
Little farming village in southern Spain.
I suppose if that's your thing, it could be an ok place. But I really hate people. In a tiny village like this, you have to be pretty social, moreso than in the city, where no one really gives a **** what you do or where you go. If they can be bothered to pay attention at all.
And there isn't sweet **** all to do, unless sitting around a bunch of bitter drunks and getting drunk with them, day in and day out, is something you want to spend your life doing. There's no employment, no real decent culture, and not very decent places to do nature walks. Or just go for a bit of privacy.
Was the husband's idea, not mine.<_<

That's exactly what it is. It's like living in a concrete trailer park. Hell, we got this one dude from England that has a vacation house here, who comes down and visits with his bluegrass band. One day we walked by his house and he was playing "Duelin' Banjos" on his banjo. It really was perfect for the setting.
If my husband had chose a plot of land and a house out on the mountainside like a few others, it would be somewhat more bearable. Because then people would not come to visit. And I could be left to my anti-social ways in peace.

I don't drive, so I couldn't even go grocery shopping (unless I pestered someone to take me) without getting on about three different buses and walking about a mile. I can't do suburban life, I think I'd die in the country lol.
That's the problem with the West Coast. People scratch their heads in confusion at ideas like "public transit".
I was surprised when I met people from NYC in the army to learn that alot of them never drove, never needed to.

Nope. Except consumption of copious amounts of industrial strength wine, as opposed to moonshine or Budweiser. They don't have pick up trucks, either. Instead of redneck bars, the young people go down to the coast and attend overpriced, cheezy discos and snort coke and exstacy as hobbies.
Everything else, though: xenophobia, racism, inbreeding, spousal abuse, lust for their livestock, lack of teeth or basic concept of hygeine, shooting and stabbing people over minor arguements...yeah, same concept.

Yeah, at least there's a more decent transportation system up in Vancouver. I cried almost every night for a month in Olympia out of frustration before I finally came back to NYC. It was kind of pathetic xD
There really is no need to drive here. Especially since I live on Manhattan, there is a bus stop or train station at the most a five minute walk apart from each other. Buses and trains come at regular intervals and basic stuff like the supermarket are like a block ot two away. Owning a car here is more of a hassle than a benefit if you're not traveling long distances.

And I have really non-nosey neighbors. I think part of it is that so many of the houses are simply rented so they families are only there for a year so they don't really care.

I lived in the Seattle metro region for 8 years. The traffic situation was a nightmare. it even ended up beating L.A. for traffic problems. because other than an infrequent and unreliable bus system, there is no public transit.

No. They don't even fly Spanish flags. they just get mullets to look more like their football heroes. That's about the extent of their nationalism.

So like, Harlem? Honestly, I think the farthest uptown I've ever been is around 86th (except when driving to the Bronx Zoo). I was an Art Histroy major from Rutgers, so the Met was a monthly trip for me.

No crappy cars that scrape the roads with their spoilers (not low rides, they're broken) painted with regular house-paint while playing music like this obnoxiously loud to attract females around the ages 13-16 (after that they're too old, and the males are 24-35)?
I could come to like the Spanish kind.

The monorail...lmao. Like how many times did I really need to get from Seattle Center to Westlake Center?
Answer: 0
Bout the only time I'd ever go to Seattle center was for Bumbershoot, Folklife, or at night for the laser shows at the science center.
