LOL You have given this a TON of thought.  I just adore him as a best friend in game but its hard to get around that Assassin thing.  He says he enjoys killing and you know if thats what his defense mechanism is (for all the sh*t inflicted on him as a kid) I can't blame him but I also don't quite trust him either.  I keep him in the friend zone and he seems happy to stay there too.

My HNF enjoys killing, too.  No, not the deluded peasants or guards.  That's sad and painful.  But other people?  Oh my yes, does she ever enjoy that.

Enjoying killing darkspawn is practically a job requirement. Posted Image

No not darkspawn.  I mean killing people for money.  The only one she actually enjoys killing is Howe but thats for vengeance.  Even though I the PLAYER enjoy killing  him, my PC doesn't enjoy killing Loghain, she simply administers what she feels is justice.
And I still hate that you kill Loghain in front of his daughter like that.  thats freaking brutal.

I like Alistair's romance too, but only if it's a human noble or maybe someone that doesn't make him king. (I can't have my strong heros just being a piece on the side after saving the world)

This. I cannot get into a medieval 'mistresses aren't demeaning but perfectly natural' mentality.

So there is a small anti-mistress club. We need a sig.

I don't think any of my PCs actually enjoyed assisting in all those people's suicide but if they were going to attack and not listen to reason then what could they do?

Please lets not start this discussion again...there are those on the boards who disagree with that mentality and those who have no problem with it.  We have gone over that one a LOTand it sometimes gets a little heated.

Guys, I believe I can add images to the endgame slideshow, but obviously would need the artist's permission. Like a wedding shot for the Alistair/Cousland slide.

I'm not really a fan either but this arguement just tends to go in circles, haha.

My point is Zevran says he enjoys killing.  Not that he was defending himself.  He kills for money, not for vengeance or justice or self defense (though there is a lot of that going on in the game anyway).  I get WHY he does, its his defense mechanism for what he went through as a kid (get used to it or die) but it still leaves me not trusting someone who says he enjoys the artistry of feeling someone's life in your hands and taking it away.

I'm not really sure how saying I cannot get into the necessary mindset is starting something. It's not like I said it was demeaning for the Hero of Ferelden to be Alistair's hot young piece of ass on the side or something else that would really ****** off the pro-mistress crowd.

I know I've brought this up before, so this might be a bit like introducing a stout piece of wood with a deceased equine, but...

Zevran was a slave.  He really had very little choice in what he was required to do.  So he made the best of it, turning what was required of him into a form of power for himself.  By excelling at it, by taking pride and,  yes, pleasure, in it he was taking back some of what his masters had stolen from him.

cmess:  You want I should email you the story?

I get that, I basically said the same thing up there, it was kill or be killed and he took what pleasure he could out of it to protect what little he had left of himself.  Still doesn't make the whole idea less creepy to me.Posted Image

Sent.  I *think* I could pop it up on ff.net without breaking rules, since nothing actually happens in it, but not sure.  I can try, with your permission of course, and hope it doesn't get yanked.

*nods*  I sometimes reply without reading all the posts.  Sorry.  My characters are all genuinely horrified at his life, and they want to make it better for him.  Especially those that romance him.

Well, read it first and lemme know.  This might not be at all what you envisioned.

Alistair read the story, too, and now he is a sad panda.
