If people want to read it, here is the origin for cmessaz's terribly tragic elf mage. It IS mature content, so you have been forewarned. Please do not come yelling at me if you are offended or upset.
Edit: And please no mocking me if you think it's terrible. My terribly fragile ego would be crushed.
Is it Vaughan-worthy tragic? or something else entirely? (the mature rating?)
Ummm, worse? *is unsure how to describe it*. I swear, that man made Vaughan look like a model citizen.
I know, huh? Thank you for the review.

Sarah- Her life is going to be a train wreck. No happiness here, I almost feel guilty.
So would this make her side with the Templars Lady D, though? And do you think she would betray Jowan to Irving?

A lot of things, though, seem like they are just stirring. If the Chantry declares an Exalted March against someone, if Morrigan's demon baby is canonized, if the mages rebel again, something being up with the GW in the Anderfels, whatever might be brewing in Orlais..these things would take time and might not occur within the PC's very limited lifespan.yukidama wrote...
Even though it would be complicated, my biggest issue with DA2 not being a continuation is that it would really seem like a waste and loss of potential. Not even really about our characters but the storyline. There are a lot of loose threads hanging and if those aren't really tied up it will always feel incomplete to me :/ I guess we could always make up our own endings but I'd just want them to help it along, I dunno.

I suppose I should say yes, huh? But not really. Like I told cmess, her character started writing in my head. That is what happened, so that's what I wrote.

That's the best way to capture the essence of a character, I suppose. So I looked on your profile and you also wrote Selfish Hearts? I really liked that as well when I read it awhile back.LadyDamodred wrote...

Yes, she would betray Jowan to Irving. As for siding with mages or templars, it truly depends on when you go. Early on in the game, templars. Later in the game, maybe mages. Alistair is not exactly enthusiatic about templar plan B. Gaia could hold off on a decision and make it later, after meeting Cullen.

Yeah, that's why I said that it's not even as much about continuing our characters but the storyline in general. I just think BW has repeatedly shot themselves in the foot by giving you so many choices but being unable to carry through with all the options they give you. I understand they have limitations, but they should consider the continuations before they release the first game so that they can make it mesh better. Otherwise I am fairly unimpressed with them making stories with characters we love and not concluding it properly. "But this isn't the last we'll hear of your character!11" does not a proper ending make, IMO.

No, Lady D just wrote a fic about someone who engaged in elf abuse to an extent that it made him appear one in comparison. And good luck on your final.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Oddly enough, I'm kind of hoping for this. Otherwise, you just know that the PC will either tragically vanish, randomly end up in, say, Orlais even though they're Queen/Chancellor/Teyrna/whatever and that makes no sense, or their life will otherwise be ruined just as it was at the end of their origin. Is a little happiness after having their life implode and then ending the Blight really too much to ask for?sylvanaerie wrote...
heh well I'm thinking it will end when DA2 comes out and we find out its 30 years from the current game time and Alistair/PC have done the DeepRoads tango...And a new generation must take care of the next big bad.
I'm hoping for middle ground. Give the CHOICE to continue, and the choice to start new.

That's what they did for Awakening and even though they claimed they only added the Orlesian Warden to appease the US crowd they still have that origin be the only one that makes any sense with how little people seem to know you. The inkeeper in Amaranthine, for instance, not being able to believe that Kristoff's commander was an elf or a dwarf despite said elf or dwarf recently ending a Blight? It fits better for an Orlesian.Lady Jess wrote...

But as much as I wouldn't want my characters to have to leave their lives again to go deal with a new threat outside of Ferelden I also wouldn't want that to mean that they're dead like it does if you have an Orlesian in Awakening.

A lot of people have their characters talk to them, especially if they write fanfic. I know mine does. And sometimes she won't do what I want but what fits in better with her beliefs and values...Is that something I should be worried about?Lady Jess wrote...

I ignored it for the most part, the blight never made it that far...it actually was ended "before it began". So while it may be a huge deal in one part of Ferelden, I figure maybe it didn't get as much attention and notice up north. That and not much is known about the GW in Ferelden, so ignorance remains as to who they'll allow in their ranks, and who could lead them. Especially since there's only one or two in Ferelden at all until the Orlesians show up.

Really? Answer this then
"What institution discussed in this course (i.e. individuals, structures, processes), if any, contributes the most to improving the quality of democratic governance in Canada? Why? Which, if any, actually undermines the quality democratic governance in Canada? Why? "
