Strangely enough, so do I. But then, my DN felt that the dwarves had a reason to be all pissy with her as she was legally guilty of fratricide but the Dalish going 'We hate you because humans suck' was a bit of a WTF moment.cmessaz wrote...

What ended up stalling me for four freaking days was Lothering. It is easily the most boring part of the entire game. I wish it didn't exist and might be willing to deal with losing Sten and Leliana in exchange.
But that's not the intro. In fact I welcome it, as it's the only real visual indicator of the suffering people have to endure during war (refugees) and is a welcome break from all the Origins / Ostagar action. But maybe that's just me.

She was more than scarred by the templars. Did you read Lady D's fic on my new character? The story doesn't get much better after that.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Ooooh, I get it Lady D, so if I save the mage's tower for last and defy the templars, she is starting to take control of her life and is seeing them for what they really are, but instead of this being a good thing it is the opposite. See?! I told you I suck at writing. Do you get what I mean?
You mean that she finally saw the opportunity to defy those who watched over her for years, the peoplke she feared the most, and in that instance she saw them as being more afraid than she was and thus decided to bring closure to her past life as a scared oppressed mage by standing up to her fears against both templars and demons, simultanoeusly realising that the Templars are not that bad and are just as much of a victim as she is?

Aw, thanks. I'm making the effort because I like the Dalish stuff so much and this character intrigues me more than others have, but also because people have told me there's very little Mahariel stuff out there. So we have to stick together. LOLSandtigress wrote...

For the bored, I wrote another little story about my Dalish mage character. Mostly Mahariel/Tamlen, but Alistair gets in at the end. (edit: link fixed, I hope)
Oh my, Addai, that was totally sweet. It's late so I'll try and write a more proper comment and review tomorrow, but I wanted you to know that I liked it, very much!
Argh, and I see a mistake. I wish ffnet made it easier to edit on the fly.

I actually feel like siding with the Werewolves is justified, as awful as that sounds. After seeing how Zathrian will outright refuse to lift the curse right in front of his entire clan. They hate humans so much that they don't even care.Sarah1281 wrote...

I agree. There's no place I hate more than the Fade anyway, and I no longer have to deal with that.
So I redirect my anger toward all the goddamn back and forth BS I have to do in Orzammar. I actually hate that part more than the Deep Roads :/

I think a return to Lothering, for whatever reason, when it's taken over by darkspawn would have been interesting, too. It would be all blighted and you might have to fight ghouls there. That would have been a good visual indicator, too, imo.

There is really no part in the game I hate, I like them all but unequally. But the one I felt had the most loopholes and just expected the player to go with it is Redcliff. Makes me want to facepalm, if it wasn't for the cool battle that goes there.phaonica wrote...

LoL, I just uploaded this one super fast because I had no Alistair and I didn't think anyone here wanted to look at Loghain, which is all I've got.
So, I guess evilness works for me.

And give us the opportunity to choose whether to try to save as much villagers as possible, or kill them all yourself in order to avoid infection spreading (Duncan did this). The possibilities.

Sounds interesting. ANd if LD wrote it, I'm sure it's good.
I'll read it after I am done with my finals. That is if I manage to pull myself from this thread. Never though I would say that but here it is.

When does he refuse in front of the whole clan? I usually don't hear him admit to the curse until after he gets to the ruins (WTF couldn't he have gone with me? Bastard) and then he removes it, like, five minutes later. Is this after you kill Witherfang?I actually feel like siding with the Werewolves is justified, as awful as that sounds. After seeing how Zathrian will outright refuse to lift the curse right in front of his entire clan. They hate humans so much that they don't even care.

Dang I'm still having trouble figuring out how I am going to RP executing Alistair though.
It could have something to do with Cullen, why you let Alistair be executed.
If she had Stockholm Syndrome, and thought the templar's had saved her and were wonderful --- then was horribly disabused of that notion, it would radically change how she was feeling. She loves Alistair and trusts him. Then comes the Circle quest. Greagoir is quick to seal all the mages off and let them die. Then she comes to Cullen who she thought loved her (or at least had a thing for her). He turns on her, and wants her and all the mages dead. How soon before Alistair does the same thing? He already won't promise any future with her. Maybe in her mind she has to let him be killed, in order to save herself.

That is also a good point. She is mentally unstable. What is not in that fic is that she is taken advantage of by some of the templars in her need to please them. I don't know whether she will admit to loving Alistair or realise that she did until after he is dead, which leads to her meltdown and her refusal of Morrigan's offer in order to end the blight as well as her own pain.sabreene wrote...

Exactly -- she would see Alistair as another Templar, even if he hadn't really finished the training. It's one of the first things she learns about him.
