Wow, my Jaina just reminded me of a Nickleback song...

<3

I just have recently realized how perfect this song works for Lenya, who is stumbling mistrusting through the foreign human world, still hurt by all she has lost and feeling all alone. Okay, rather fits for the beginning Alistair/Mahariel romance, where she wants him to see who she really is but feels so vulnerable at the same time.  D'aaaaaw

I <3 their music and listening to them most while writing.

You know, strangely enough the song that makes me think of Alistair/Cousland is Today Was A Fairytale... Posted Image

I really cannot stand that beard-ish thing on either him or Nathaniel. I'm not sure why but it's just really...ick.

Not always the case.  For example, Cleopatra, although of Macedonian origin the Ptolomy's very assiduously adopted the Egyptian custom of fraternal and paternal incestuous marriage.  And Byron's tussle with his half-sister produced the mathematically gifted Ida.

Was she gifted in other areas?

Actually, I've edited my post because I think Ada was actually Byron's child by Arabella, his wife, not his half sister, although he had at least one child with his half sister and there did not appear to be anything wrong with them...

Katriel betrayed him.

Yea. but still. I mean, it made sense from the plot that maric couldn´t be with a treacherous elf as queen, but still. It was so romantic:wub::crying: And it would have allowed my elf to marry Alistair:crying:

Loghain looks like a mule kicked zombie with a voice like he gargles with razorblades and an arrogant attitude that makes me wanna shove his face through the wall.  If he were a romance option and I could stomach it I would have to torture him in a style that would make Morrigan blush with shame before I ripped out his heart emotionally.Posted Image

But he´s the hero of River Dane. And considering my PC has never seen him in person, only the pictures in history books, she doesn´t know that.

And suggesting Cailan is Loghain's bastard is absurd and kinda icky beyond the Loghain had sex with Rowan thing since his daughter, Anora was married to Cailan.  It would mean he betrothed his daughter to her brother.  Thats not fanfiction fodder, thats the stuff of nightmares.Posted Image

Loghain wouldn´t mind incest if he thinks it good for Ferelden, not to mention that he might not know whether the child is his or Maric´s.

Awww.  *cries*  Some people are so frickin' talented.

Herr:  There are enough that would.  And it doesn't take that many to continue the cycle of abuse.  I happen to be of the opinion that stuff happens between mages and templars.  And it's not force in the physical sense.  She wants to please them, make them happy.  There will always be those who take advantage of people like that.

She's probably confused by Cullen, actually.

I was just wondering since my old mam is a child/maternal psychologist and I've heard about a good few mentally damaged children are good at math while not being able to talk at the age of 4 or willing to have any social interaction.

I don't know if any of them are due to inbreeding though, but you never know with the countryside.

Come to think of it, Daveth's side-beard thing bothers me, too.

As far as Awakened are more dangerous i do not see it as so, with sentience comes self awareness, with that self awareness comes the instinct for self preservation, the Awakened are not mindless anymore, no more so than the werewolves in the forest.

She's not put-off by the fact that it's illegal and she could get in a lot of trouble and ****** off the Templars in charge?

HEY! Just because you live in a little village somewhere close to the arse of the world doesn´t mean your parents are brother and sister!

All of my armors have been updated to include console commands. If the armor doesn't spawn for your new character just type in ser_(armor name)c (additional instructions on armor project pages) and it will spawn the whole set. You can spawn multiple sets this way if you so desire.

This is what I'd pick for my Alistair/Mahariel pairing - already done in the theme song thread if you clicked on my most recent contribution to that.

lol  Merrisell...our songs have the same names, even if they're by different people.... Maybe our Mahariels think alike!  I think the lead singer of Within Temptation has a really pretty voice, unfortunately, they're just not my usual type of music that I want to listen to.  When I'm in the mood though, I love them.

I live there. Everyone is everybody's cousin. And marrying your cousin is legal. Fun fact, cousins have about as much in common as halfsiblings.

On the other hand, have more than 95% of monkey´s genes are identical with human ones. "Relative" is a very relative idea.

Unless the family already carries a rare genetic mutation, I would suspect that most chldren born of a first time incestuous union are relatively okay (genetics/healthwise, mentally is probably a whole different story, especially in modern times).  Such pairings are usually problematic in the long run because it makes offspring more and more genetically like the parents, instead of introducing the genetic variety of having new blood all the time.

That means it becomes more and more likely that a child will have two copies of a rare mutation, which could then lead to health problems.  A lot of animals like dogs, cats, livestock, etc. have a decent amount of inbreeding done to concentrate good traits, for instance, and it's only when this is overdone that you really come into inherited problems.  Done carefully, it's not dangerous per say - we just have a cultural bias against it.  Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing to have in humans, of course.

/takes off the genetics hat :P

I agree, genetically it's not as much of a problem. It's just that it's a huge taboo.

A good friend of mine has parents who are first cousins. It's legal in the country she came from. Both her, her sister and her brother are all brilliant (two engineers, one doctor) and also gorgeous, with no health problems. They don't tell too many people here in the US, because people find it so icky.  But they're all completely normal.  (Also from a large family, spread out family - her parents are first cousins, but didn't mean until they were teenagers).

Of course, too much inbreeding and you get the infamous hemophilia line in the
monarchy!
