Mind control is NEVER a good thing. Considering Commander Dryden wasn't that great of a person herself.

It depends on your reasons. I don´t think a spell is bad in itself.

You don't think removing someone's free will and controlling them is a bad thing?

LOL  He must not have liked Esra's snark back, however, since I got a -3.

Why do you keep on saying Anders is so unmanly? I don't find him particularly effeminate or anything. I guess I'm just not a fan of the whole gauging manliness thing, since it is so damn arbitrary and especially since that is a commonly used justification for hating Alistair (his "unmanly" character).

I'm kidding, of course.  But Anders does strike me as more of a girly-man.  Probably it's the cat.

He admits to using blood magic on the nobles if you use the right dialogue. I am going to try with my current HN to go that route and see what he says first.

I just did that last night, but not on my Cousland.  He admitted to using blood magic on nobles, and that they met with Teyrn Cousland, but he didn't specifically say he used blood magic on him.  I don't know if that's an extra detail that comes up when you're a HN.

He says he saw the Teyrns head on a table with an apple stuffed in his mouth. So he didn't use blood magic the enemy killed him...I forget the tyrants name.

My favorite awkward Alistair moment is when he tells you he loves you post-Goldanna (unhardened).  It's this tiny little "I love you" and I know his brain is running at a hundred miles an hour "OMG I can't believe I just said that what if she doesn't feel the same way how could you just blurt it out like that AHHHHHHHHH"  :wub:

I loath emissaries. They deserve bad fates.

Not worse than killing everyone who doesn´t obey you. That´s what Arland did.

I just think he's just so ridiculously confident that he just is. He doesn't have to pretend to be brave when he's not, he can make jokes about knitting for the Knight-Commander, and he can wear what his comrades call skirts and it's just...eh. He's Anders, so whatever.

And you seriously underestimate the appeal of a cute guy with an adorable kitten. I know a lot of women for whom that is just kryptonite. Hell, if the kitten is awesome enough, the guy doesn't even have to be cute. Ser Pounce-a-lot can revive my PC in battle. Anders could look like Cammen and I'd still love him.

It is always a bad thing. Dryden just wanted the throne for herself, and the manner in which she tried to accomplish this makes her no better than Arland.

If you say so, yuki.

I think Anders is a wonderfully written character and my PCs always befriend him, but to me he's just not attractive that way.  I do think his story is touching, especially about being in solitary confinement.  Do we ever find out his family background?

Does anyone else hate those fanfics where a female Warden turns down Morrigan's ritual but survives because she's pregnant (by Alistair even though the odds of that are ridiculous and they haven't been trying) and so she has the God baby?

Wait...whaaa? I don't even... There are FF's like that? With that kind of story? Lol, I'm glad that I stopped reading EVERYTHING a time ago, so unfortunately I missed such plot-jewels.

I realize this, as the forum response just to pictures of cats indicates.   It just doesn't do anything for me.  The whole cat thing in Awakening is on the verge of annoying, but it's still a nice touch in the midst of the story.  You have to have something besides fighting and gloom, though I would prefer to rescue Nate's mabari instead.  He ends up just being a quest giver.

I have a similar reaction to men with dogs.  I'm the proverbial cliche of a woman who would talk to a guy in a park and fawn over his dog.

Men and dogs

In the conversation you have right outside her house?  What dialogue choice leads to that?  Not that I'm going to leave him unhardened, but I like to see all the options when I make my new save right before.

No, and it's immensely frustrating. There has to be a good reason why he didn't go to the tower until he was an adolescent, but it's not mentioned at all. I'm hesitating on giving him a backstory in Undertow on the off-chance that he's actually involved in a future game and whatever I write gets completely undone. Of course, why I am concerned with this, I don' know. I would just like to be able to have something concrete to work from.

What? What? Is this with a Spared Loghain ending, because that is the only scenario I could see where a player would be not be comfortable enough with Alistair to tell him that she's pregnant.

Oh god, the rage!  The rage I have at that scenario!  "Alistair and I can't be together b/c we can't have babies!  Oh look, I'm pregnant!  I'll just run off AND NOT TELL HIM!"

I've usually seen it int he break-up scenario.  They're mad at Alistair and he "made his choice" conveniently forgetting it broke his friggin' heart.  And there is no excuse when he's not married to Anora and is still single.

I thought the idea of Fanfic was to write your OWN story, not about writing down the plot of the game.

All power can be used for good or ill. It depends on the user. For example Jaina...she's a blood mage, and she's dark, and insensitive to a point, but she chose blood magic to prevent anyone ever doing to her again what was done by Vaughn. She'd happily use mind control to make Caladrius free the slaves, or on the Tevinter mages to gain entry to the hospice. If she'd had half a chance she'd have used it to turn the Ogre on the rest of the horde to save Duncan and Cailan. What if a blood mage romanced Alistair, and made him king...and she saw him ready to sacrifice himself to end the blight, and took control so that SHE could do it, and both end the blight and save the king.
