I'm not saying Alistair is more intimidating or Anora would let them get away with it but if the years show that Anora doesn't really care about giving them more rights and Alistair does and takes more of an interest, then a bigot would see a better outcome for their actions under Anora. Unless, of course, there was alcohol involved in which case it really doesn't matter what else happens.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Because you think Anora is all like "Oh sure go ahead and kill a bann I personally appointed"?
And let's be honest here. Who is more intimidating? Alistair? Or Anora Mac Tic? Please. If she or Bhelen are not perfect deterrents, then there is no way Alistair can pul this off.

Chancellorship with Alistair as king. That means you can do whatever you bloody want. Much more efficient than relying on the competence of others.

I would say it's atually quite the contrary. A prejudice becomes even more radicalised when it's under threat.
A bigot who hates the elves has a lot more reasons to be angry with the situation if Alistair is king, since he is promoting them, than with Anora. An act like this assassination is clearly that of desperation, not of benefit or better outcome. And I think Alistair actively promoting the elves would create even more desperation for whoever that bigot is. Hence why relying on murder.

My CE said she's going to think about it first which basically results in the boon being postponed/called off by the looks of it. Quite happy with it as ending really -- her father taught her well not to draw more attention to herself than necessary... and if getting a named Bann for Alienage results in stoning and riots i'm afraid to imagine how well handing whole teynir to an elf would fly.Sarah1281 wrote...

Alistair and Anora really suck at granting boons, don't they? They were already planning on giving the Dalish land, restoring Highever, and giving Amaranthine to the Wardens. And do actually ask before sending an army to Orzammar in case Harrowmont decides to be a moron and vetoes them? I am going to agree with KoP on this, but for the reasons I stated above. Naming an elf a bann infuriated people. At that point, no amount of charisma and charm is going to help. It's only when you don't give people a reason to hate on elves more than the differences between how Alistair and Anora handle the situation becomes evident.
It does seem really poorly done, doesn't it?
I don't know. Some of the things strike me as really odd. Like asking for Gwaren when you're going to be queen or king. That seems really unfair to the people of Gwaren to have an absent ruler. My HNs always ask for the Grey Wardens to be remembered, but it's kind of useless as it happens anyway, like the Dalish boon.
What would have been nice is if all these things happen, but requesting the boon gives it a little something extra.
KoP: I am sad that you didn't at least give me a cookie for agreeing with you.

Loghain was Teyrn of Gwaren and he spent most of the time in Denerim. Howe was the Arl of Amaranthine, Teyrn of Highever and he spend most of the time in Denerim as well. So it's not uncommon. In the absence of the Teyrn, the Senechal takes over.
Arcturus does plan to go visit Gwaren every once and a while (and make sure Fergus' offspring would inherit the Ternir).

Mr. Sardonicus is a 1961 horror
film produced and directed by William Castle. It tells the story of Sardonicus, a man whose face becomes frozen in a horrifying grin while robbing his father's grave to obtain a winning lottery ticket. He tries to force a doctor to cure him, but eventually dies when he can no longer eat or drink...To achieve Sardonicus's terrible grin, actor Guy Rolfe was subjected to five separate facial appliance fittings. He could not physically stand to wear the piece for more than an hour at a time.

Ooooh, shiny! *noms* You have no idea how well stickers work with kids. It's kind of sad, really.
I think it's b/c coming from Highever, my HNs see it as being a bad teyrn if you're absent most of the time. We're good stewards of our lands, damnit!

I think it's mostly the fear of being absorbed fully into Ferelden, that makes the Couslands remain in Highever.
Notice how the human noble is asked to remain in Highever and not join the army. I think it's largely because of that.

I was actually thinking with Jaina, I'd take the Gwaren boon. Not for the title, or the power, but so she and Zevran can have something neither of them ever had...a home, a place to call their own. She'd still return to the wardens, but they'd always have somewhere to go back to.

Well, to be fair, the teyrn and his heir are going. It makes sense that your parents don't want to risk both heirs in a single battle.
