Much more intimidating than Alistair, yes.
And I don't know if it's just me, but yes I thought she was pretty intimidating. Not the scary kind. But the kind that seem to radiate authority. Loghain describing her made that even more apparent.

Loghain describing her as that is the height of irony, since he spent the whole game riding roughshod over her supposed authority.

Because it's Loghain Mac Tir. One only needs to read the Stolen Throne to see how much authority that guy radiates. Obviously Anora is not going to surpass him vis a vis this.

?  What have I missed now?  It's been awhile since I did the origin with a HNM.  What does Fergus say?

He says that he wishes you were going with him but he supposes your father doesn't want to risk both of his heirs at once.

Ahhh.  I can see how that would be irritating.  It's why my canon HNF is so serious.  She wants to be taken seriously as a warrior.

That's the SIL talking, right?  You're sure she doesn't say that for a female?

No, Fergus says it. And then the SIL says she doesn't approve of women fighting and then there's that exchange about how Anitvan women are only deadly with poison.

Yes and instead of that you get Oriana talking about how scandalous it is that women are fighting as that would never happen in civilized Antiva...unless you're a woman Crow like Rinna.

Still shocked that the toolset says she's teasing.  It so doesn't come across like that.

I read that book.  I seem to recall he had no authority at all until Maric knighted him.

In Origins, he radiates, alright.  Just not authority.

You know, it is kind of sad that even Antiva is considered civilised when compared to Ferelden. Have the Thereins been that incompetent throughout the centuries?

If Loghain didn't call a Landsmeet in this scene then why are all the nobles assembled?

Any armor mods out there that are blood mage/AW workable, and preferably black and red? Or am I gonna have to cheat and use the console to get the Awakening set and winter forge it to suit?

I think it's mostly the dog thing. No one really gets the dog thing.

It's all in perspective.  You could call Tevinter or Orlais "civilized," but ask their slaves what they think of the term.

AW can wear any armor, but the only red/black set I know of is the one from Awakening.

Nope, he demonstrated that quite a bit before even meeting Maric. And he showed that when he came up with the battle plans in his first major battle and led knights into a suicidal diversion and that was when he was a simply peasant / outlaw and not a knight.

It that isn't authority and leadership, I don't know what is.

Is Ferelden unique in its lack of slavery? And when did that come about? Or did Ferelden never have slaves in 400 years since its inception?

Indeed, considering Ferelden runs on rudimentary version of democracy with its Landsmeets and women are treated pretty equal while other countries have their feudal rulers or other similar systems and female winning tournament in Orlais was a major scandal that ended in sanctioned murder not that long ago, "civilized" is in the eye of beholder.

Ferelden is a pretty harash place.  There are Codex that say beyond the Korcari Wilds lies ice fields.  Taking that into consideration they must be down fairly far since the Anderfels sound similar or worse even and those lands lie far north.

And the fact that Denerim looks very unimpressive and ugly.
Granted, Amaranthine looks quite nice.

And they have a very poor cuisine as well. No university or any form of higher education. Poor trade.
Yea Eamon's argument doesn't appeal to me.

I gather that it is an informal/ emergency assembly.  That's why I take it that Teagan is in armor, because I picture he rode hard to get there from Rainesfere.  The weird thing is that when he's defending Redcliffe, he's back in the clown clothes again.

The interesting thing about this scene is that the positions are reversed from the usual.  The codex on Ferelden nobility says that one of the remarkable sights in Fereldan life is the king having to answer to the Landsmeet rather than vice versa.  Here we see the opposite- rather than the nobles in the gallery and the rulers down below answering to them, you have Loghain in the gallery talking down to everyone.  And I'm sure that's deliberate to illustrate the nature of his illegal regency.

You are seeing them thirty years after a brutal, century-long occupation that divided the country.  I think they're doing pretty well, all things considered.

Ok, then Jaina is going purely destructo-blood mage from afar with Zev's default AI she'll be good and safe. One arcane warrior is quite enough I think...lol

edit: ok ONE A/W talent, or she can't wear the high dragon gloves...ooops.

These galleries seem to be intended for people to speak from, Eamon is delivering his speech from it too.

One can't take that argument that far. Development is intrinsically (though not perfectly) linked with being civilised.

No matter how much you disagree with Roman culture and traditions, I would find it very hard to argue that the Roman Empire was uncivilised, compared to Germanic tribes who also had some very primitive and rudamentary forms of democracy.

Likewise, no matter how much you might disagree with the Qun, I would find it very hard to argue that the Qunari are uncivilised.

Strategic thinking, not leadership, and certainly not charisma.

Well, taking the weather into consideration the trade routes are probably nearly unuseable during the winter months.  Ferelden is surrounded by either ocean or mounatins.  Even just to trade w/ Orlais the trades have to pass through the mountains and past the dwarven areas to reach Red Cliff.

Fereldens seem to favor practicality over finery.  Duncan notices this when he first arrives w/ Genevieve to Denerim.  Also in the conversation about shoes w/ Leliana.  If it's -20 out the last thing people are thinking about is beads on their boots.

That is a very dangerous question to ask, especially with Knight here. Posted Image
