TBH the only character I've ever really felt the need to mod was Zev, and I almost never use him anyway so I never bothered. DA-redesigned does have a badass morph for him though.

Oh weird. that project has .mrh file as optional download too, maybe using it to swap the hair in the Toolset and exporting the result would help? Or if you didn't see the change then there may be another copy of the .mor file somewhere in your override folder, and the game is loading that one instead of the changed one...
