Hmm true. But Alistair's standards have never been all that high. He'll latch onto anyone who gives him enough action figures to play with.yukidama wrote...

You can edit the VFX for these spells with the Toolset (BioWare released their source files for it here: http://social.biowar...m/project/1331/ the one you want is vfxproj files.rar ) and then export modified version with most of the effect removed which takes care of that. And aye, the default fire/poison are pretty overdone, not big fan of the light attached to the lighting one either.cmessaz wrote...
I wish there was a way to remove all weapon effects except cold. I like that one. I'm sure there is but I don't know it.

So Merilsell, in TST it says that Loghain and Maric wake up in the Dalish campfire smelling something strong like jasmine. What do you suppose it is? I just wanna know what Idun might be smoking in her time off. LOL

With me, most of Lothering/Redcliffe goes like this:
PC: (does something badass)
Morrigan:
Alistair: Ooooh no, you guysssss! Be niiiiiice! *limp wrist*
PC: ... *sigh* <_<
Morrigan: Shut up, Alistair.

Actually, I've been pondering this for the chapter I'm working on - I wonder if some of it isn't ritual (thanking Sylaise for the gift of fire, for instance, by burning herbs like they were incense), or alternatively something more practical like pest repellance by burning herbs in the fire for their smoke.
I have this image of it being part of their funeral rites too, burning herbs and all-night vigils and I'm totally making it up, but it sounds all lovely in my head.

I suppose it depends by what you mean by badass. Alistair does play differenlty on a F!PC than he does with a M!PC, imo, but I still like him on both kinds of characters. The fact that I play characters that think a lot like Alistair probably also has a lot to do with it.

I don't understand this. Alistair hardly even speaks in my games. I'm not always the picture of morality. Then again I don't go around randomly slaughtering people either when there is an obvious alternative answer.

That sounds plausible. Not as fun as elven doobies, but then it does say they were eating stew and not smoking.Sandtigress wrote...

I noticed another little detail- it says that the tattoos are brightly colored and on the foreheads. Another way the book elves =/ game elves. Don't know about you, but I'm going to hew close to the book. Not that you get much there, either.
Something else I thought was interesting and hadn't remembered from my 1st reading is that Maric says one of his tutors told him that the werewolf curse apparently was epidemic and that this is the reason Fereldans keep hounds. A dog would ward or fight off a werewolf. Now if our PCs did know that legend, then I could see it as a semi-plausible reason to wipe out Zathrian's clan lest that happen again. But only if you planned also to wipe out the werewolves themselves, who could spread the curse.

To be fair, most of the Dalish tattoos do seem to involve at least the foreheads and can be brightly colored, if you so choose. Maric might not have noticed other variations in the firelight. I don't think this is too far from the game tattoos.

Yeah, the werewolves that used to infest Ferelden is a large part of why the dogs are such a big part of the culture. I still don't really see a need to wipe out the clan if you end the curse...it's a hard route to justify, IMO. My blood mage will do it as a "I hate elves, werewolves are much more powerful" thing, as he also doesn't have a problem consorting with demons (hence the blood mage thing). So his justifications will be largely racist. Then again, I think he's a pretty crummy Grey Warden and Alistair and I both hate him.
