Except when you ****** him off? All the characters are like that for the most part. They're more than happy to go along with you as long as you don't make them mad. And even if he were, that's not being a sissy.

Only girls have emotions or are compassionate. Didn't you know?
Cry moar, pansy!
No kidding. I guess I should tell my brother that the next time he needs a shoulder to cry on b/c he and his fiance are no longer together. Silly boy!

He's he's scared of leading, he's scared of making any kind of important decision, he's scared of being king, he's scared of his relationship with a femPC, he's scared of pretty much everything... so no I'd say he's quite a bit more timid than any other party member. Hence the titleLadyDamodred wrote...

Alistair practically is a Disney character. They go well together.yukidama wrote...
Nice, but that person's character is forever ruined in my eyes. Damn Disney... sigh.
There is a difference between Disney character and their new army of brainless exploitable teenage pop stars.
So does Morrigan. Only difference is that she prefers jewelry. That's it.

The first three are all rooted in the same issue, which if you play the game a certain, changes with him. But that's been discussed to death.
As far as a relationship goes, he's nervous. Which is...normal. He will, however, take the lead in all aspects of the relationship, so...
And he's not scared of anything we encounter in the game, which is more than I can say for my PC. But hey, people are going to see him differently. If that's truly how you feel, I can't change your mind.

Can you choose other colors besides earth tones? Seems like the game went more with the woodsy theme with the Dalish, whereas the book elves are presented more as you would think of the wandering folk in Europe- brightly colored clothes etc.Sandtigress wrote...
To be fair, most of the Dalish tattoos do seem to involve at least the foreheads and can be brightly colored, if you so choose. Maric might not have noticed other variations in the firelight. I don't think this is too far from the game tattoos.
I think you could if you were a scorched-earth kind of person. Idun has been scorching the earth a bit herself, annulling the Circle and killing Connor. Though she sees it as saving people from themselves and preventing worse horrors.Yeah, the werewolves that used to infest Ferelden is a large part of why the dogs are such a big part of the culture. I still don't really see a need to wipe out the clan if you end the curse...it's a hard route to justify, IMO. My blood mage will do it as a "I hate elves, werewolves are much more powerful" thing, as he also doesn't have a problem consorting with demons (hence the blood mage thing). So his justifications will be largely racist. Then again, I think he's a pretty crummy Grey Warden and Alistair and I both hate him.

The game does have other colors: purples, blues, greens, metallic colors, etc...

Tell you what.
Next time we put in a male lead, we will make sure to make him the manliest and most stoic creature you could possibly imagine. Just for you. He will be so manly he will suck the body hair right off of John Wayne and make Chuck Norris weep with envy. He will never show a single emotion, not even at his grandmother's funeral, and will never utter a single complaint about your actions... he will simply reach out of the game, slap you across the face and then take over the party.
The rest of the party won't mind, and neither will you... because he will be that awesome. Deep down inside you will resent him, and resent the fact that every NPC in every town the party enters falls in love with him and not with you. But that part of you also knows he deserves that love. Even needs it.
I am certain there is not a single fault that you or anyone could find with such a character.
Discussion ends. Gaider wins.

Oh? Even when I hardened him none of that really changed, minus 1 line at the landsmeet. He still seemed pretty terrified of the idea whenever we'd discuss him being king, unless that's a bug?LadyDamodred wrote...

Yeah ok, I'll give him credit for the swoop, that is a pretty good one. But that's it! His proposition at camp seemed kinda desperate. As far as a relationship goes, he's nervous. Which is...normal. He will, however, take the lead in all aspects of the relationship, so...

It's really kinda scary too. I mean, if you (meaning one of these guys that sees Alistair as weak because he's emotional and lacks confidence) had a friend that say...went to war, saw his buddies die in front of him, guys that were like brothers to him, and that friend comes home emotional, sad, and suffering a loss of confidence in his ability to lead...is he then weak and no longer their "bro"? Or is he suffering from PTSD due to events that were beyond his control, and worthy of their support?

He's not scared of leading. He thinks he's not suited for it, and the PC is there, so he is happy to let you take the lead role. He even recognizes that this is what he is doing (see my video here, towards the end). Part of this is his character and part of this is the necessity for the PC to control the game, so don't let yourself run away with the idea.Axekix wrote...

As for being scared of being king, should one not be scared to assume responsibility for thousands of lives? As he tells Shale, unless you have to be in that spot yourself, "Then. Shut. Up."
About the relationship aspect, he's no more scared about it than anyone would be, especially someone inexperienced. I would rather call it awkwardness and nervousness rather than fear. I think you're confusing his desire to idealize it a bit and to make sure that it is a deep relationship with fear.
