You don't "know it's going to happen" the game ends, he's single, you're together the end. I'm not of the belief I need to worry about whether or not my LI is possibly, maybe, if he's even included in the next game, might or might not potentially be married. What we don't know is that he'll ever love anybody else. When he tries to break up with you he points out he's going to be getting married at some point so he can try for an heir. Given how important having an heir is to avoid the whole mess once Cailan died without one and the mess having a bastatrd chlld causes and which Alistair knows all too well...sooner or later he's going to marry a noblewoman in a political marriage and even if you're the one he really loves he's still cheating on Queen Noblewoman with you. Since they make such a big deal about Anora never marrying you think they would also mention it if Alistair didn't. Anora refuses to bow to the nobles and doesn't really seem concerned about creating an heir (maybe she also thinks she's barren) but Alistair is very worried about that and I just don't see him as the type to risk civil war aftre he dies in thirty years because he won't even attempt to have a child.Lady Jess wrote...

That's just taking meta game to a whole other completely speculative level. Seriously, they couldn't be bothered to write any romance at ALL for Awakening, do you really think they're going to take EXTRA time when and if they do continue these guys to write complications into existing romances? We're talking scenarios for HMN married to Anora and Leliana on the side, HMN married to Anora with Morrigan gone, HNF married to the king (Oh no we haven't had a baby?), And any other class in an active romance with him as king, not to mention the GW ending.
Origins ends, he isn't married, you're the only woman.
Awakening ends, you're together, you're the only woman.
Anything past that, can be dealt with when and if it happens. There's no point in making in game decisions based on it now.

This, exactly. I really dislike the term 'ho', in genera, I find it a demeaning word that defines women by their sexual activity. A woman as strong as the PC is would ever let the terms of a relationship define her. Married or not, the status of her love life should not make her less than she is.
Of course, some of my characters prefer not to be married even when they are very much in love, as it gives them more freedom.

Plus, it seems as if any children of a grey warden might be tainted? At least, the child Morrigan created through the ritual is. So would they really want heirs to the crown that would be passing down taint? I haven't read any of the books, so maybe that was covered in them.

Good point on the freedom thing. I just look at it like this.
Deciding to kep the romance or not based on what might happen a year or more from now is the equivalent of this...
I know for fact, that I am moving cross country in 7 months. So of course, I'm starting to prepare for it in little ways now. Makes perfect sense. What I'm not going to do, is arrive at our new home, and refuse to unpack and get comfortable because we might move again 2 years later.

Yeah, worry about whether or not Alistair remarries if it ever gets addressed in an expansion. Cross that bridge when you get to it.
