Twitter is...a way for people to send quick little messages for others to see.  Mainly used for screwing around and letting friends know what you're up to.

Technically speaking, twitter was created to let people share short status updates (140 characters) with their followers.  The Hearties tend to use it as a chat program though.  :-P
