Presumably by the time he did realize it it was too late to change it.

Did he confirm that Alistair is Fona´s daughter?

And how does Goldanna fit in the picture?

I said NSFW because he is sort of nekkid. Can't see much because of the sword.

Kasha...married Alistair, DR done, returned to the wardens

How long does she intend to stay with the Wardens and how much time will she spend with them? Amaranthine is too far away from Denerim for her to really spend much time there since she has responsibilites she can't avoid as Queen.

Actually princess consort, with comes with only the responsibilities the king allows, which in her case is..being a grey warden commander, with hiss blessing no less ("Good, I'm glad at least one of us is staying with them"). And Amranthine isn't far, epilogue slide said the visited as often as possible.

So they're spouses that just sort of visit each other. She really might as well just be his mistress...

SOOOO

IMPORTANT QUESTION AHEAD!!!

We all know that it would be cool if Alistair was Fiona´s son.

BUT! Loghain says Maric couldn´t accept Alistair as his son for Rowan´s sake because doing so would reduce her to his mistress instead of the Queen. That means Alistair must have been born before Rowan´s death, i. e. before Maric met Fiona, too.

Is our hope forfeit?!

No because the timeline is screwed and David Gaider has admitted as such. Also, I take that to mean that Maric doesn't want to sully the memory of Rowan rather than Rowan herself. He's pretty torn up over her death even in The Calling which is meant to be set five years on.

If the timeline was accurate and Alistair was Fiona's son, it would also make Cailan ten years older than Alistair, which is a bit much - I figure Cailan is five years older at most.

I'm dead certain Fiona is meant to be Alistair's mother - given Maric's reaction to her son at the end of the Calling I'm pretty certain he wasn't the type to go off sleeping with serving maids.

Cailan is 5 in The Calling, so if Fiona's son is Alstair, Cailan is about 6 years older than him.

Sarah, you're pretty awesome but...you really don't like Jess, do you?

Your mage sucks. There is absolutely no way that she can learn swords, that's just stupid. Your noble sucks because she doesn't stay at the castle like a good girl.

Not everyone plays the game the same way and you choose your words poorly when talking to an army wife (or military at least, not sure which branch her husband is in)

I didn't mean to offend you and wasn't making any sweeping generalizations. I just don't see why a HNF in this game would bother making herself Queen if she's going to pretty much pretend she isn't and run off to the Wardens. Then again, I wouldn't marry a man who was gone more often than not but then I have no patience or real inclination to try and make a long-distance relationship work. You're surely aware that that's not for everybody?

I don't understand the logic here. A mistress is usually someone who is sleeping with a married man. Unless he's sleeping with other people while she's gone (making them the mistresses) I don't see any correlation.

There are a lot of jobs and circumstances that separate married couples for months to years.

Not to mention that I doubt royalty get to see as much of each other as regular couples, given the fact that the King would probably have to travel somewhere while his wife stayed to handle court (or the other way around).

And you should be aware that I was married to the man before he joined the army. I have life experience that says these relationships do work, and work well. So I apply it to a character, who didn't marry him to be queen, but for love. And yes I'm aware it's "not for everyone" but you speak of it as if it's fantastically stupid to maintain such a relationship, when I know several couples that not only do so, but have better marriages than alot of civilian couples I know. :)

Ah, but what if you were married for 5 years, had children, then one of you lost a job. The only way to support the family was to take job in another state, but you don't have the money to move the whole family there. Do you divorce, because he's going to be gone working out of state?

But in the context of DA:O, it would be strictly the way to RP. You could have characters who love one another and want to be married, but want to make sacrifices to continue to fill the roles they feel they are most needed in.

It's not that I don't like her, we just seem to be disagreeing quite a bit lately. I didn't say that her mage or noble sucked or that her way was stupid. I don't think it's realistic to learn swords pre-origin with game lore or understand the appeal of returning to the Wardes at all but many people apparently do or aren't in this game for the realism. I know that most people play the game very differently then I do and I honestly forgot about her husband. Generally, when I'm talking about the game I'm talking about the game and am not even remotely applying it to any real-world situations so when others inevitably do it kind of takes me by surprise.

Sorry, I'll just...not comment on any more of her RP-ing decsions since I can't seem to stop inadvertently offending her.

tmp's mod finally got me off my bum. I had been meaning to get around to running through the US for both dwarven origins so I could listen to Rica and Gorim at the funerals. Here's a picture of a dwarf with Alistair. I had left him in heavy armor since I was testing out charsen's gate kisses (massive armor clips) and looking at this image, I gotta say that he looks better in massive armor. There's nothing to support his neck in this picture. Forewarned is forearmed!  =p

I think it's just that you take your life experience and put it into what you think is realistic for the game, and others take their life experience and use that for what is realistic for their game.

What realism is for one person is not necessarily what realism is for another. We need to be open for other people's interpetations, without drawing a line through them and saying it can't possibly be real. I think people bring up their real-world situations in an effort to show it can be real.

Well the game won't let me pick marry the guy as a normal person, so...I married him, but you are consort, and ther's no power/responsibility in that role. So you can be the wife that returns to the wardens without shirking any responsibilities. Besides, I apparently stuck around for 6 months before the wedding and got summoned to Amaranthine on my honey moon so...the way i ended it actually wound up making sense for the import.

Since my Prince Consort also was Commander of the Grey, I feel like I have to defend my position and perhaps defend Lady Jess's in the process.

First, keep in mind that her character and mine are Consorts and not regnants. Yes, that's a huge difference. Consorts can and usually do hold other titles and assume other responsabilities, otherwise they have no power and influence.

Second, my characer, I can't speak for Jess, went to Amaranthine to save it and further solidify his reputation and power, and not becaues he was told to by the Wardens.

So I really don't see the problem here. Unless what you mean is that Jess decides to stay in Amaranthine after the crisis is over. I can't speak for that, as my Cousland goes back to Denerim after his victory in Amaranthine.

I didn't mean to. I just said something that was only applying to one in-game relationship that really could have been phrased better and now everyone who has eve been in a long-distance relationship is jumping down my throat. I'm nineteen, people. I've never been in a long-distance relationship and I'm years away from ever being in a situation where I'll be married to a man for years and he'll need to move away or join the military. I don't actually know anyone that I'm aware is in that situation. Is it really that hard to understand that I just wasn't thinkng of any of that? Or that I can't really imagine it?
