Because Loghain crushing twoi legions of chevaliers in the battle of the River Dane with only 1000 barely trained men with little equipment can have only two conclusions:
- Either Loghain is much more brilliant than everyone, including me, thought.
- Or two legions of Chevaliers aren't a big number, and the Battle of the River Dane that was described as the most decisive victory was barely a battle to begin with.
Yea I wondered about that, too. In Rome, a legion used to be 6000 men, that means he would have won against 12000. That´s better than even Robert the Bruce!
On the other hand, I should think a Legion in Thedas is just a lot smaller, maybe around 500 - 1000 men?
And I wouldn´t say 1000 men on each side are a small battle in that times. After all, Denerim has only a few thousand inhabitants, and besides of that there are barely any towns worth mentioning....
