Yeah, you're probably right. The fact that it takes place in front of the entire cast is pretty messed up too hehe.Gilsa wrote...
I chalk that up to the mess that is post Landsmeet. There is no dialogue for when Alistair crowns himself king automatically -- he still tells the PC it's their fault that he is king. I think the ball got dropped in a lot of ways so it's up to us to fill in the blanks and not take things so much at face value.Axekix wrote...
Yes, but only one option gets him to stay, and even then there's a 2nd check for it (where he talks about how it wouldn't be fair to you or his new wife). I would think Hardistair would sit the PC down and ask her about her feelings on it instead of just going "surprise I'm dumping you!... unless you persuade me!"sylvanaerie wrote...
Why do you think its hard? it isn't. He loves the PC. He isn't in love with the QUeen.
Also... I miss your old avatar. That dude doesn't look nearly as cute.

Heh, you're in luck. I just finished his game earlier today so no need for me to keep him as my avatar. Seriously, only Sten was left to talk to me at the post-cornation ceremony. =pAxekix wrote...

@Jess -- aye, there's a thread floating around about it, too.
Edit: Oh, Loghain was there, too. I forgot about him.

That's why i said she's likely to "just" manipulate and betray him. That's not killing, but it is something she enjoys and she has no apparent understanding that it can be as bad for the victim as physical harm. And Cousland actively encourages this attitude so why should she have any second thoughts about it? She isn't harming a close friend, she's just playing a very enjoyable game with him. And wanting to kill her for that? That's just something a sore loser of the game would do.KnightofPhoenix wrote...
I think you are way over-exagerrating what hardened Leliana is and what she becomes. She is still religious and she doesn't kill for fun. What she enjoys is "the game". The excitment. Not the killing. And she still lieks Cousland a lot and considers him a very close friend and that's after hardening.
I think you're ignoring here that source of her excitement and loving what she does is actively manipulating and harming other people with no regard for their feelings. This is also a sickness, a mental one. They call it psychopathy. So no, i don't think she should be discouraged from trying to put that part of her life under a lid.A very imperfect analogy. Alcoholism is not a personality trait, it's a sickness. A sickness that at the very end ultimately denies you of being what you are or what you can be. Leliana craving excitment and loving to do what she does best, is not a sickness.

I'm questioning why the game makes you fight so hard for it.
A: So, I'm going to have to get married, you know. You probably won't be sticking around.
PC: Yes I will.
A: *eyebrow raise* You will?
PC: You bet.
A: *happy* Well alright then! Let's go kick some darkspawn ass!

Alistair? Dessert pastry? Why must you set me up like this?
It's taking every ounce of willpower I have to not make a terrible Leli joke right now. I'm trying to behave! :innocent:

Again, I don't think you understood Leliana as a character at all, nor did you understand how she is when hardened.
She knows full well what this "game" is. But she isn't a child playing at it. She knows she is harming.
If you seriously think that Leliana would be like "Hey old friend, I just manipulated you because I thought we could have fun together, that's all", then there is nothing more to say. I see Leliana way differently than you.
And yes, if she wants to compromise Cousland's position as King Consort, she is going to pay the price for it like anyone else. But she isn't stupid, nor is she a child like you make her out to be.

Manipulation is a skill, worth perfecting if you are good at it. Whatever she chooses to do with that skill is her own business. If she uses on people who deserve it, kudos to her. If she doesn't, she assumes responsability.
Otherwise, I don't see the difference between her and Zevran.
Nor do I see how it's irresponsable for someone advising the other to perfect a skill and enjoy it. If that person chooses to use that skill in a bad way, it's that person's fault.
And again, you fail to take the epilogue into consideration, which said that Leliana is not into this business, but she is hunting broodmothers down (unless for some reason you think sparing MArjolaine is a good idea). So you have absolutely no evidence to your claims, and a very poor and simplistic understanding of her character imo.

I actually killed Zev three times in this game because I was curious. Wanted to see if he was murder-knifed at the ambush (turns out his throat is cut, but we don't see it), got him to -100 hostile and killed him in camp (got some nice screenshots of him lying in a pool of blood, but I'll show some consideration and not upload 'em, heh), and then reloaded because I had yet to see him turn on me with the Talisen encounter. I actually laughed when that happened because I finally understood why that pissed people off so much the first time it happened to them. It was in the way he laughed as he turned on the player, lmao. Yeeeeah, I can see why they can stay mad at him. =pAxekix wrote...

The only party member I sometimes kill off is Zev... just because I never use him anyway.
Wynne -- I agreed with my girlfriend at the tower and Wynne said "over her dead body" so we obliged her.
Zevran -- dead at Talisen.
Oghren -- got him to hostile and killed him. It was pretty buggy and weird how it played out. I figured he'd be fine in Awakening, big deal. =p
Leliana -- I had hardened her, romanced her and saved that game in case mods were ever added. And then I reverted back to an earlier save and kept playing so I completely forgot that she was still unhardened when she confronted me about defiling the ashes. Oh, well. There went my last stealther. That's how I was skipping a lot of content. Did all of Deep Roads in an hour because I used Zevran to loot the legion armor from the caskets and just stealthed past a lot of fighting whenever possible.
Alistair -- married him off to Anora because I wanted him to be mad about Loghain still being alive.
Loghain -- only lived because Morrigan got what she wanted with my dwarf.
Sten -- I dunno. I didn't see a reason to cut him loose. He was a'ight.
That was a completely messed up playthrough, but heeey, I have one male character that is going to hunt down Morrigan! So if she is the only returning character in an expansion, well, I get to share in that now. =p
