And in that case, she is right. She left them physically unharmed, took what she wanted and left. The victims will get over it and they would still prefer this, than her killing them and taking what she wants. Them being "none the wiser" implies they don't know what happened to them in the first place, for them to be harmed.
Physical harm isn't the only kind of harm you can deal to someone, which is the very point Leliana seems to be missing. The victims "will get over it"? They would get over beating, too. That's hardly an argument and the very fact there's something they're supposed to "get over" means the experience did not leave them unaffected.
Considering the fact she can fall in love with the PC, even when hardened. Or demonstrated true friendship to the PC equally when hardned, points to her havign empathy.
Friendship and love don't require and often exist without empathy, they are emotions after all. More to the point, you presume her friendship and love are genuine when she's told you she's very good at pretending to be what people want her to be. How do you know she isn't just doing the same to you out of habit?
Enjoying a skill is necessary to perfect it.
Making her realise who she is, instead of running away from it, is the best advice one could give to a person imo.
And yea why shouldn't she enjoy it? She specifically mentions what the party and the PC did, and the men they killed. All of whom deserved it. If we were out there killing for the lulz, you might have an argument. But she specifies that she likes doing what we are doing right now. Aka saving Ferelden, while killing people that need to be killed and enjoy the adventure while it lasts.
Honestly, you are twisting words here to duck the point and that makes for poor argument. She isn't talking about "saving Ferelden", or do you believe she could be actually
concerned she's "slipping" by enjoying that particular aspect of your travels as opposed to what she explicitly names? Neither is she trying to justify it they way you are, which is because the player can kill many people who don't actually deserve it, purely for xp, loot or to get a kick out of being "evil" or simply an ass.
Neither is telling her she shouldn't be concerned with that part of her personality anywhere near telling her she's "running from herself". That concern is also "part of herself", her own reaction and yet you are telling her to stop paying attention to it. Basically reinforcing one trait of her personality while trying to suppress another. That just makes her "run from herself" all the same, except in different direction. Not quite that supposed best advice one could give.
