Speaking of the Deep Roads...it's a shame to take a bunch this good looking down there. Can't we just you know...live without the dwarves?
Lady Jess, shame on you!
Even my dwarves don't want to go down there! I swear when Harrowmont told Aidan she looked him and said "What, sending me down there to die ONCE wasn't enough???"
I would just boost up stealth and trap disarming on one of your rogues and stealth through all of the Deep Roads. Obviously you can't zone if you're in combat, but there are usually areas where you get far enough to drop out of combat and that's when your party can port over to you when you toggle the stand/move button. Cutscenes also port your party over (such as running into Ruck). You'll have to fight the spider queen in order to read the book, but going all the way to the zone wall just past the spider and Branka's book will drop the rogue out of combat and let you port your party over fight the spiders. You can easily skip a lot of dead trenches (just remember to check each room if you want to loot the Legion of the Dead armor).
Edit: This will only work if you're not a completionist and don't care about not doing the dwarven quests such as Filda, Ortan documents, Asunder, etc.
Edit: I finished Deep Roads within an hour using the stealth methods. It wasn't a character I particularly cared about. If it's one of my dwarves, I really take my time! =p
