Zevran lingered in Denerim for a time, mourning the loss of his love and working for the Fereldan throne as a distraction.  Eventually the Crows came after him once again and he elected to take the fight to their doorstep, returning to Antiva.  After four master assassins disappeared, the Crows readmitted Zevran--as their leader.  He maintained a distance from his former comrades even then, and despite frequent offers of new bedmates, never loved again.

Isn't it a bit far fetched that Zevran will never touch anyone again?

Actually, no.  At the end, if he falls in love, he can't even have sex with the warden unless they make a commitment to him.  Sex and love become one and the same for him.

Which is really, really depressing if your PC dies.  Posted Image

And a real "what wha huh??" moment the first time you romance him with
no prior knowledge of how he works. We had a little argument over an
earring, ok, I'll make it up to him

PC: c'mon, let me show you
I'm sorry...tent?
Zev: No.

I'm sure glad this isn't a canon option... damn, even Alistair FANS don't give him much credit.

Hey, we're giving him lots of credit.  We know exactly what he will do and exactly what we need to do to stop him.

Mmmm, linguica pizza.  *noms*

In my games, if I do the US, I personally interpret that he never emotionally loved again and leave the door open for the business/pleasure side of things. It's too Mary Sue for me to rescue a broken man, transform him with my love, and then leave him worse for the wear at the end of all that. I don't like the Alistair/Leliana slides where they can't seem to function without the warden either. I don't really do the ultimate sacrifice so it's all moot anyway. ;)

For me it seems a bit ... creepy. Our Wardens are so awesome that their love interests lose all happiness in life. And Alistair is the most harmless one, just leaving the Wardens and disappearing from public view. I certainly hope he will find a new purpose and someone else to love.

Alistair's is just as bad:

Alistair felt the loss of his love keenly. Although he returned to the Grey Wardens for a time, he was heard to say that it simply was not the same anymore. Much to Queen Anora's relief, he resigned from the order and left Ferelden for good.

Leliana's is by far the creepiest.  Does she only kill herself if she's unhardened?  I always read Zevran's as that he might take bed partners, but he will never love anyone again.  His heart is done.  When Alistair disappears, I hope, in time, he will find someone.  Maybe not the all-consuming love he had with the PC, but someone to share his life with.

Doesn't say that he never loves or has sex again, though...

I always take the Zevran one, everything that was good about him died along with the warden. He was too much a survivor to die himself, but his love of life, his compassion, all that, gone. Instead, you have a cold person who takes over the crows and doesn't let anyone close to him ever again.

Edit: If Leliana is changed, she goes back to Orlais to go after her enemies.

I wonder how Leliana fans would have felt is that became her ending in Awakening no matter what -- that's why I'm ticked about the Zevran Awakening epilogue!

Ugh, that's the worst part of it for me.  Your death takes what was the first real happiness he ever found away from him.  I just...  Ugh... Posted Image

Face it, doing the Ultimate Sacrifice destroys whomever loved you. Morrigan just a bit earlier is all. It seems like the heroic thing to do, wow, you leave a whole lot of pain in your wake.

This is how I view it as as well, to be honest. Missa would be furious if he wasted away and never got laid again.

Yup. Just goes to show that killing yourself is a bad thing to do. Gotta love that Dark Ritual.

Really it's a shame that Alistair buggers off if you spare Loghain, because morally letting him take the final blow is the most logical thing. Bloody Riordan. Mister "I'll only give you vital information when it's too late to do anything about it".

I always take the DR, and ya know what? The first person that says anything to my warden about it, can blame themselves, and Riordan for keeping all this crap so secret from their own recruits. And any one of them will darned well tell them that, loudly, and with a pointy object nearby.
