As others have noted, you certainly can.  My elven mage did not find out about his identity until finishing the Ashes quest (if he is not in the party when you travel to Redcliffe, you don't get the cutscene) and by then they had already been in the bedroll.

I actually like doing it this way for certain RP circumstances.  I don't think she would have gotten involved with him if she had known, and I didn't want to send him to Morrigan for his first time (metagaming a little there).  Plus it gives the scene with Eamon and Teagan nice drama.  Talk about a WTF moment!

You can use the conditionals on the player's lines to show/hide them (on plots&scripting tab), so you could still use it when it applies and have more generic alternative otherwise. If i'm not mistaken that particular flag is ALISTAIR_MAIN_TOLD_TRUTH in his genpt_alistair_main plot file.

VO:  (A political promise.)
KC:  "You think I care nothing about these things, but I do.  I suppose trust will only come with proof."

I think this is understandable, though.  He can't make a commitment to anything specific, certainly not in front of a person he hardly knows.  And I wouldn't expect him to be really interested in dwarven conditions- there's nothing he can do about that anyway.

Not that I expect Cailan would have led great reforms for the elves, especially not with Anora on board.  Maric didn't do that, either, and Alistair only marginally (but he does seem to have tried to make changes).

I've always thought the rose he picked was Leliana's rose, though there's no way to prove it.  And I don't think he picked it while she was watching.  And even if he had, I think she would have understood once this sentiment was explained.  And, again, while there's no way to know/prove it, for me, the rose never withers or decays.  It's always as if he just picked it.

Oh my goodness, yes.  I've always said Alistair is Maric's true son, which is quite remarkable, actually, given that Alistair never knew him.  Theirin blood breeds true?  It's what makes me completely confident that Alistair will be fine as king.

I think it just really indicates he has no intention of doing anything.  Unlike the firms promises he gives the HN, where it's basically 'Come hell or high water, Howe will hang for what he has done.  and I'll use the whole damn army if I have to.'  I know it's a totally different situation, but I think it speaks to the difference when he truly committs to something.  He's not really interested in city elves/dwarves.  Understandable, to a point, but still...

Stays in the inventory and he carried it from Lothering to (wherever you get it) and its as fresh as when he picked it...

Maker's rose alright...Glad Leli missed that one. Ninja loving stalker bard pissed at you NOT a healthy thing...Who knows what body parts she will want to snip off and put in a jar.

No problem, if you can make it work go for it. The replacement cutscenes use different filenames rather than overwrite the default ones so that should probably make it easier to link them in such way, hopefully.

This whole Redcliff dialogue is just perfect when finding out about Alistair after sleeping with him.  I loved it, it fit.

Eamon and Teagen are discussing putting Alistair on the throne and my pc comes along and goes:

PC: What about Alistair?  What do you mean?  ( I really wish these words could of been in bold lol)

Bann Teagan: You don't know?

Alistair:  I, ah... meant to tell you when we were approaching Redcliff, but... (he seems so uncomfortable here, not sure how to respond lol)

Arl Eamon:  Alistair is King Maric's illegitimate son.  He is Cailan's half-brother and has a claim to the throne.

PC:  What why didn't you tell me this earlier, Alistair? (by now she's starting to see red lol)

Alistair:  I never thought it would come to this.  When Cailan got married, everyone thought it was best to just... have me step aside.  It was a relief, actually.

Alistair:  I don't want to be king, I never did.  Even when Cailan died I... I guess I hoped something else would present itself...

And then Eamon but's in with that it's your responsibility thing.  I so wanted to hit Eamon by then.  My pc didn't know if she should be pist at Alistair or feel sorry for him for being put in this position.  I wish there could of been an option to tell Eamon to stfu, Alistair and I needed to talk for a minute without his responsibility bull**** lol.

Ya she was pist by this time lmao.  Here's this man she's fallen head over heels with and she finds out that he's not who she thought he was.  It was a different way of rping.  I don't know if I'll ever do it again but it was definitely different.

One Observation I had: In Origins at Ostagar, when you first meet Cailan (with Duncan) - neither one of you bows to him - which one would do if meeting a King. However - in Awakening, when Alistair walks up to greet your PC, you and others bow to him. Why would you bow to King Alistair and not Cailan? I seems inconsistent to me.

Hehe yea I did this on one of my HN playthroughs.  Was a truly epic WTF moment for her.  Ultimately I prefer taking him to Redcliffe though for that bastard prince talk he gives her just as you enter.  Some of the dialog there can be really sweet and its very different if you aren't romancing him yet and just felt jarring without him in group since I take him everywhere I possibly can.

Lol, I figured the high priestess would volunteer. I am very hopefull. Sadly, I may not be able to include BSC in the first version. I also was wondering if you have a save game right before Alistair asks the pc to bed that I can borrow.
