Probably because you are basically choosing between them once Alistair tells you it's him or Loghain. Of course, sometimes it feels like people don't believe in a middle ground. I like Alistair as a character - though he often ends up losing his virginity to Anora - but I cannot forgive the Anora solo ruler Loghain spared action of leaving. In most of my playthroughs it's not really relevant because him not fighting as King so he'll be more likely to survive and get coronated does have merit.Herr Uhl wrote...

Although that doesn't hinder the thread to go its destined fate, like every thread like this had done before. Loghain/Alistair landsmeet, that is. >__>
I wonder why everybody has to compare them in order to judge how they act. If it's about Loghain, Alastair is brought up as an example and vice versa.

Eh, I say arguments, other people say debates, you say discussions. All the same meanings, just different words. I made my original commit tongue in cheek and it should have stayed there, because I realize I sounded passive aggressive. Didn't mean to start anything. Morri cookies for all Morri fans in the thread (all two of us lol)!

It was an accident (and just a flesh wound, she recovered fully)!! She's totally going for him anyway, muahaha. Also, I kind of abandoned Leliana in Lothering and Lothering is dead now

At least he's in little danger in that department. Hopefully in time he finds a nice mistress who isn't too much of a golddigger.

I always take Alistair virginity, even if I'm romancing, say, Zevran. And as a man, I don't have to take his virginity because 1. I'm doing the DR and 2. I'm marrying Anora. He can find some nice girl to lose it to and I get to control most of Ferelden. Seems like a good deal to me.

I just dislike people thinking that one of them has to be right and the other wrong. If someone comes with an argument that [Alastair makes a bad decision when leaving] it usually gets the stock response [but Loghain/Anora is worse]. It's like many asserting that Bhelen is the awesomest thing in dwarven society since smokeless coal mostly due to Harrowmont being terrible in comparison.
Sure, Loghain being bad has a part in Alastair wanting to leave, but the discussion usually ends up with people flinging the same old arguments at each other from either side of the trenches. Simply put Alastair bad, no Loghain bad, no Alastair bad. *le sigh*

Where are those screenshots which replace the PC in the tent scenes with a darkspawn or skeleton? There's one of Alistair mounting a hurlock. That's the picture I get here.
And Anora can be the biggest closet freak, but Alistair is still not getting busy with her. He'll eventually get around to doing his duty for the sake of an heir, but Anora's frigidity is a mercy.

You articulated how I feel perfectly here. I'm no Loghain fan, but I would spare him if Alistair didn't run away because of it. They're both interesting and deep characters, and they've both made bad decisions. Shockingly bad ones. Having read The Stolen Throne and The Calling I still have more sympathy for Alistair than Loghain though - but the poor bastard's had a tough life and you can see why he does what he does.

I don't know about that. In my CEF game, where I married a hardened Alistair to her, he bluntly declared that she'd be having his baby. The only question remaining is if he can fill big brother's shoes.Addai67 wrote...

He needs to fill sweardaddy's shoes (figuratively speaking).

Having a million kids will certainly never leave room for a Theirinless throne, would it. Unless Ferelden was taken by Antiva, of course.
