In a way it was a peace offering, since there is no nastiness implied nor is any insult directed at an individual.  Apparently the whole Princess parody has a few people upset -- this was in response to a few people wondering if the Zevran fans would be upset over a Zevran equivalent.  I know I wouldn't be unless it was hateful (we do get our share of people who gay bash there, though we haven't seen it for awhile) -- and the princess story most definitely is not that.  That poking fun of the characters is not the same as poking fun of a person.  And princess IS funny.

I for myself find Princess hilarious. Then again, I've read many DA:O FF's and now where this is directed at ...AND aren't the biggest HNF fan either.

So cheers, ejo. B)

This is probably why I don't get it, since I haven't read these.

@ejoslin, I wouldn't say upset, more like puzzled.  Then again even when I participated regularly on the Zevthread, it always puzzled me why poking fun at Alistair and Alistair fans was a pasttime.  It doesn't seem to work the other way, though I suppose Leliana fills that role over here, at least since the DLC.  *cue bump and grind GIF*

You might be right about that.  I just don't have the greatest impression of anime art.  I'm not looking forward to seeing anime Alistair, or Maric, or Duncan, or whoever.

Very true.

I'm actually not against anime personally, I mean I grew up on the stuff (Neon Genesis, Samurai Champloo and FMA being my faves!)  But TBH I can't think of any American produced anime adaptations I've ever really liked... the Matrix anime DVD and the Batman anime release were both pretty bland imo...

Errr...Interesting DA News

DA Anime?  Bleh, I have mixed feelings about it.

I hope they don't cover the events of DAO in it... unless they're planning on canonizing the Warden's story.

I don't expect to watch it personally. I'm not a fan of Anime anyhow. or...any cartoons in general since The Smurfs.

Even if it's bad I'll watch it... out of morbid curiosity if nothing else:D

It is DA after all!  I just hope this isn't their way of coming out with a canon DAO story.

If they do end up ever canonizing a Warden then I would probably end up just resenting that particular origin for it even though I know if they do a canon they'll have to pick one. Knowing my luck, they'd probably go with a HN...

"Maybe" is an awesome name.

My name is proof that, sometimes, even awesome 16 year-olds shouldn't be allowed to name their babies. My mom named me after a song and it's so totally wrong that she almost changed it when I was 6. I've went by various nicknames my entire life (and was going to have it legally changed to just a first initial, since that's what most people call me) and have a tendency to just pretend it doesn't exist unless I'm filling out paperwork or forms.

Ha, luckily I had the forethought to name my son something that wouldn't embarrass him later, though I kind of wish I named him his middle name (Wyatt). I was pretty young when I had him, so usually people who were my age name their kids "Sunshine" or something. Though I'm totally not making fun of them, just pointing it out.

Probably since the human commoner was the face for their promotional materials until that origin was scrapped. If the movie bombs, we dwarves are going to want to be as far away from that mess as possible. =p

I, for one, love anime as a medium. There's a lot of crap out there just as with anything else, but there's a lot of amazing things too. It just sucks that since the **** is more marketable that's most of what they produce.

And don't be jealous, Kryyp! It's all in good fun :D

A DA Movie? Anime? Both are terribly revolting, BAD ideas.

And I dislike anime immensely. Sure, I liked it fine once upon a time, until I realized that as far as storylines and immersion value, they were all pretty cut and paste with little to no real innovation as far as characters and such.

Ugh. DA anime. That's just.....vile.

My challenge for the AliThread, then. Come up with a non-gay-bashing spoof (those are old, and annoying) of the Zevran romance.

Ummm, please? It would be fun! I'll give it a start. Hmmmm, Queenie CousCouse girl gone wild! Have her hit on duncan, have sex with Dairran after getting shot down for a threesome with Iona. Have her be horrible and tell Iona that she finds elves physically beautiful (and remember that when Zevran brings up that very thing). Have her have sex with Cammen, Leliana, Alistair, Zevran, Isabela (either a threesome or foursome, depending on whom she's romancing).

This could be VERY funny if done well. I won't be TOO offended! Ummmm, you could call her, say, Queenie? And don't you think burgundy hair and a preference for black armor would be nice? Not that I have anyone in mind for said parady of course!

... I guess i'm missing the point by a mile here, but how is just having a player's character sleep with everything that moves a spoof of Zevran romance? Posted Image

Yea, the Alicorn thing isn't really spoofing Al, or Lady Cousland ... its spoofing the players.  So the analogy would be something like saying that the Zevranites are all dwarf playing goth chicks who hate cheerleaders and frat boys

I'm not sure that's really the best analogy. I know lots of people say that Zevran is the LI best equipped to understand carta life for a DC so that might be comparable to people saying Alistair is the LI best equipped to be with a Cousland but for the rest...what part of Princess implies anything like 'goth chick that hates cheerleaders and frat boys'? It doesn't say anything about the real lives of anyone who prefers the Alistair romance, just about those who prefer the Alistair romance and go about it in an 'I'm an entitled Cousland Queen' manner. Skadi!  Where have you been!?

As far as disliking anime... well it's nothing more than a medium.  It's up to the story teller to create an immersive experience from it.  I would say that generalization could apply to any genre really.

The style of anime really varies wildly, so it really depends on what sort of look they actually settle on. I didn't watch all that much of it really so can't offer any useful examples, but... look up The Record of Lodoss War as example of what's pretty nice rendition of fantasy setting in anime, imo.

So do they mean 2D anime or something with more game-like graphics? Because that can look pretty decent.

When I took a Chinese class in high school I was given the name of Mei Li by the teacher because it was close to my name. It doesn't describe me in the least, lmao.
