Fuming at Bioware's lack of patches preventing me from playing DA again, and thus, wasting away in Farm-a-rita-ville.
As far as disliking anime... well it's nothing more than a medium. It's up to the story teller to create an immersive experience from it. I would say that generalization could apply to any genre really.
Anime, mainly, the Japanese stuff, is more a genre. I'm not talking about animation/cartoons in general, which I love, but the Anime genre, which I find incredibly lackluster. It seems to stick rigidly to a small number of tropes, recycles character concepts without really pushing beyond comfy bounds, and becomes pretty repetitive. There are a few other genres similar, especially when you get into vampire type stuff, but Anime is the worst offender.

Ooo, you're right. Something along the lines of Advent Children could be very interesting...and more in keeping with the DAO world, IMO. It would be very Sacred Ashes, in other words.
Okay, I would watch a DA movie that looked like Sacred Ashes. But I still hope they aren't going to make it in the DA timeline, so we don't have to watch a canon story. A little backstory about Morrigan, Alistair, Leliana, etc would be pretty fun though. Like, pre-game era, y'know?

I'm mainly concerned with Western produced anime art styles. There are some fugly things out there, lol. But to be honest so much of the fanart posted here has such a heavy animanga influence it doesn't feel too out of sorts for me. Just bizarre that they'd go in this direction.

Anime is such a broad category though... I mean it can range from kiddy pokemanz and stuff to some really adult oriented material. Have you ever seen Neon Genesis? That pushes waaaay beyond comfy boundsSkadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...

I agree, something leading up to DAO would be great. Duncan's time in Ferelden, culminating in Alistair's Joining and the march to Ostagar would be FANTASTIC.

Ahh; i thought a spoof would be something that's trying to poke fun at the 'canon' way the romance is supposed to work (same way the CousCous thing is mocking the onetrulub HNFs thing) so was expecting dunno, Zevran and whatever the 'one true pairing' for Zevran is supposed to be spend their time trading back and forth an earring turning into ring and back or something. Or the player genuinely unwittingly walking into his massage offer, or much chargrin out of Zevran reaching his "no nookie because i'm in love and that'd be cheap" phase ... something along these lines.ejoslin wrote...
There are a lot of people who bash the romance on the grounds that it's cheap and shallow and based on nothing but meaningless sex (which it is not, but that's a different topic).

I'd expect a regular 2D thing. Feature-length cgi takes ages and it can be as hard to make it look any decent as it is with a normal movie.Sarah1281 wrote...
So do they mean 2D anime or something with more game-like graphics? Because that can look pretty decent.

I know. I've seen plenty of the more "adult oriented stuff" (and not just the really WEIRD crap like Legends of the Overlord). It just really lacks.

Well, it would be, but I'm not sure that there IS a canon way that the Zevran romance is supposed to go. Hell, even people who do the romance can't agree on it at all -- there's a lot open to interpretation there.
*grin* The only way you can end up in the tent without knowing that the massage was more is if you skip dialog. Actually, MorGothic DID write a very short caricature about that last night -- was amazingly funny. I'll have to dig it up.

I really don't watch tv or movies anymore, I just have my old retired favorites on video.
Cartoons/Anime I liked:
Heavy Metal, the Movie
Aeon Flux (animated, not the movie)
Beavis and Butthead
Rock n Rule
The Wizard
Old School Gi Joe
She-Ra
Transformers (old school)
Vampire Hunter D
In terms of movies, basically sci-fi and fantasy, thriller, and horror genres. Such as: Hellraiser Series, Mad Max Trilogy, Terminator 1&2, They Live, Bladerunner, Excalibur, ect.
Barely any TV series I actually like, the few I liked are all done now: X-Files, Lone Gunmen, Friday the 13th, War of the Worlds, Star Trek.
But I do not watch TV. That's my husband's pasttime.

I disagree with that. That's like saying everything made in Hollywood is a genre. They have kids anime, porn anime, vampire anime, horror anime, comedy anime...cartoons aren't just for kids there and it's extremely popular so trying to say 'Pokemon=Serial Experiment Lain=Naruto=Inuyasha=Chrono Crusade=Excel Saga=Fruits Basket=Immortal Rain' doesn't really work. That would be like someone from Japan saying 'Arthur=South Park=Avatar=Simpons=Bugs Bunny=Drawn Together=Powerpuff Girls=Animaniacs.'Skadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...
