Yea, the Alicorn thing isn't really spoofing Al, or Lady Cousland ... its spoofing the players.  So the analogy would be something like saying that the Zevranites are all dwarf playing goth chicks who hate cheerleaders and frat boys

I'm not sure that's really the best analogy. I know lots of people say that Zevran is the LI best equipped to understand carta life for a DC so that might be comparable to people saying Alistair is the LI best equipped to be with a Cousland but for the rest...what part of Princess implies anything like 'goth chick that hates cheerleaders and frat boys'? It doesn't say anything about the real lives of anyone who prefers the Alistair romance, just about those who prefer the Alistair romance and go about it in an 'I'm an entitled Cousland Queen' manner.

The impression I get from the Alistairian mockers are that they think  we are all pretty little princess wanabes who want our dreamy handsome prince, and we either read tiger beat magazine while listening to the Jonas brothers, or we have some kind of mommy issues.  Looking at the Zev thread, I see that the Avatars are mainly Dwafes, they spend much of their time ridiculing this thread and it's dwellers, while we here realy don't pay much attention to Zev & his admireres at all.  So, as did the Zevranites, I am formulating my own rude and derisive stereo type based on limited information.  And why do the Zev's care if the player likes an entitled Cousland Queen - its that players game and they can play it how they like.

It'd seem at least part of that 'why do they care' comes as backlash to some entitled Cousland players pushing that particular way they like to play as the One True Pairing with every other way being inferior in comparison. In other words they don't mock just because they can but in response to being told their way to play the game sucks.

Well, it would be, but I'm not sure that there IS a canon way that the Zevran romance is supposed to go.  Hell, even people who do the romance can't agree on it at all -- there's a lot open to interpretation there.

I don't think there's a canon Alistair romance, either, or maybe there is and I just don't know about it.

I'm not really sure where the 'mommy issue' thing comes in at all but I'm not really sure that's an accurate impression of how most people there think. I mean, the thread is over 1200 pages long so it may have come up at some point but a lot of people there also do the Alistair romance and/or post here as well. The entitled Cousland Queen thing can be a little overdone in fanfics sometimes and that can annoy those who prefer a different pairing or origin and have to dig through the hundreds of Queen Cousland or will eventually be Queen Cousland stories to find something they would rather read about.

It really is uncalled for to intentionally try to be rude and provocative about everyone there because you feel Princess = everyone at the Zev thread hates Alistairians. I don't really think of this thread as being full of immature teenagers anyway and many people here talk about their husband and children (Lady Jess's daughter, for instance, is only two years younger than me! ) and even if you are right about some adding more insults and stereotypes will hardly help matters.

Do these people inhabit fanfiction??  Because I've never met them.  Granted, we have debates here about the "m" word, but I don't think I've ever encountered this species of player.

No one really does care, it's all in good fun.  I think there's a good mix of races, actually, though the Zevran/DF pairing is incredibly hot!  And the maker of the Alicorn has made a lot of really nice Alistair stuff as well.

However, i AM looking forward to your story (if you're going to write one).  I have an amazing Dwarf Casteless story too!

In the name of promoting dwarf + Alistair romances, of course you do. I have even more bad news for you --- I am leaving for Las Vegas on Wednesday and won't be back until Sunday night. That means, if tmp releases his dwarf mod in that time frame, it falls to you to PIMP THE SH!T out of it here. Show everyone here that they have an smaller, inner goddess that is just bursting to break free! (Meanwhile I shall cry bitter salty tears in Vegas as I watch from the crappy laptop.)

What bothers me is when players from all sides start insulting each other and throwing around stupid stereotypes and harboring superiority complexes and being obnoxiously defensive over everything.



Catty attitudes and in-fighting like this is why I've pretty much fallen out from every fandom I've ever been in, and I'll be damned if I let it kill this one for me too >:|

I think this is a good point.  We are not passive femmes waiting to be courted, it's more a question of "What can we do with Alistair", ie him being a blank canvass upon which we can project our fantasies, which tend to untame, rather than "What can Alistair do for us?"
