Bingo. Have a cookie.

This thread has made me rage a couple of times with a few comments in this vein. Especially when the Ye Olde Dwarven Debate of Sexiness starts and I'm too tired to defend my choice of avatar/playthrough.

I've only played one Cousland thus far. And my Duster was quite happy to become King Alistair's mistress, given her background and all. No elves. Alistair either gets mage love or dwarf love in my playthroughs, beyond my Cousland. And she never became queen, and he stayed a Warden.

Alistair gets tons of dwarf and human mage lovin, however, because only they are worthy.

I don't see Princess as character bashing but rather player spoofing, which makes it the teeniest bit more pointed, IMO. Whatever, it produces funny stuff so I really can't complain about it.

*wades in to probably end up annoying people more* Princess was originally a reaction to some silly stuff I saw on the forums, but she's not aimed at anyone in particular. I enjoy her, as do many other people (if it weren't for other people I wouldn't have done more than make her in the CC), and she's just for fun. I think we're all capable of laughing at some of the silly stereotypes that come up in the game, and I'm glad you enjoy some of what comes of it. Besides, technically I've completed more Alistair romances than Zevran romances (er, I've never actually completed the Zev romance in-game) so anyone saying this is an attack on Alistair by a Zev fangirl/Ali hater clearly doesn't know who they're talking about! And please, by all means, make a stereotypical Zevran romance girl/guy. We love love good jokes around the Zev thread. :P

But it will have to be better than Disney Princess Princess! (a work in progress)

Hey, what are the Cousland stereotypes? I don't read fanfiction and I'm curious:D

Basically, this.

My point was to illustrate the stupidity of pulling a stereo-type out of your butt. I don't read FF, so I can't comment on any of that - only to say, if you don't like the princess ones, don't read them. But really, no one in this thread cares who is romancing Zev,most of us probably really like him. We're just appreciating our guy (or making him into Moobistair). Al has probably gotten more ridicule in this thread than Zev and his fans combined - I don't see the need for the other thread to worry about us over here so much ( and yes, I saw the general jabs at this thread - not just the FF people).

I think this is a good point.  We are not passive femmes waiting to be courted, it's more a question of "What can we do with Alistair", ie him being a blank canvass upon which we can project our fantasies, which tend to untame, rather than "What can Alistair do for us?"

My mission: Debauch the chantry boy.

My Couslands are not very nice girls. My AU Tabris has very good reasons to despise him and does so gladly.
There, I admitted it, I'm guilty of playing Cousland.
But I love to see Alistair paired up with every origin. Hell, I even read stuff hooking him up with Zevran or Leliana.

And the next one quoting the pink eye burner gets queenofhearts-ed, I swear!

remove the spaces and this has to be done for each line in your sig, not just the entire thing.

I've seen quite a few jabs at this thread elsewhere in the forums too, but I just choose to stay quiet. I'd rather have my fun here than some pointless passive-aggressive discussion elsewhere.

Thanks to FF,I can't romance him with my f!Cousland. The pairing has been completely ruined by the mary-sue cliché so the very idea of romancing Ali with Elora makes me want to vomit. And no,that's not a personal attack at those who romance him with Couslands,I just can't do it.

People have their favorite origins and romances, which is fine.  For me, my favorite origin is the Cousland origin.  And it is my favorite for a very precise reason:  It is the only origin that allows me to play a human warrior.  That has been, and will always be, my favorite rpg character.  In every rpg I have ever done, it is always my first/canon character.  I might have even preferred a common origin to the noble.  I don't know because it was never an option for me.

I think what makes people testy is that often times the poking fun does descend into attacking the players and not stereotypes, even if that's not the way it is meant.  *shrugs*  I am perfectly content to accept any and all pairings.  It doesn't affect me or my favorites.  It just seems like some people get all mad when someone says "I don't like this pairing/I don't want to play this pairing."  Lord knows I've been harassed about that.  :/

Even in this thread, all the 'elf/alistair is perfect because of the snuggle' tends to wear on me a little bit.  *grins at all her friends*  But I don't take it personally or mind too much because I know are just playing what they enjoy.  I simply let it pass without comment because there is no need for a comment.

And my name means "Stong/Brave/Fierce One".  Posted Image

*sigh* In response to people's posts:

Princess is a joke. That's all. I don't look at her as reflecting anyone in this thread or anywhere else. She is meant to be utterly stupid and ridiculous beyond any measure of actual players.

I have looked at plenty of stuff in this thread, as well (despite claims to the contrary), and am already aware of the demographic of most of the posters here and that there is a diverse group of intelligent people. This isn't an attack on anyone, and honestly I just think it's sad that what is clearly a joke is being taken as some sort of mockery. Aimo has enjoyed it enough to make a couple of (fantastic) comics from it, and many other people enjoy it enough to ask me to do more with her, as well as to make even more jokes from it. It's a collaboration for fun, not some pointed way of trying to stereotype people who enjoy the Alistair romance.

@yukidama--There are plenty of jabs at the Zev thread as well. It's what comes with being a large thread dedicated to a certain character. But Princess has nothing to do with any of that. I just consider her like Ugra--a way of playing with game limitations to make something funny. No offense is intended.

Anyway, I'll just leave y'all alone since that's what you want. Sorry that humor apparently doesn't translate.

I don't think anyone really cares how another person plays a video game, especially a single player one.  Princess is funny.  Alicorn is funny.  I'm sure Ali has gotten more ridicule here -- I read both threads.  Part of the reason is, of course, that if there are any other glaring Alistair bugs, I want to fix them.  But another reason is this thread here is very funny and nice in its own way (it's very different from the ZevThread, which, despite what you are saying here, seems to be devoted to talking about Zevran).

I don't think anyone is trying to hurt anyone personally here.  When people here laugh at my "zevran radar" I have to laugh, because I DO seem to notice and reply to those more often -- it iS funny.  If I felt it were malicious, I would have been long gone.

If you're offended by the image of the Alicorn, remember what else his artist has made and realize it's not a personal jab.

Princess is the opposite of any capable, strong, self-sufficient warden.  And very VERY funny.  I can't imagine anyone would actually even think of playing a character like her.

Anyway, I've probably said way too much on this and helped nothing.  So I'll shut up now!

Edit: Because I can't shut up...  Human Noble Female is the origin I play most often as well.  And she usually ends up queen.  It's a lot of fun.

This. I love playing Human warriors. Cousland is one of my canon games, with my other one being elven mage. Though once I finish my City Elf rogue, she will be my third canon.

See, I never read FF. Nor do I venture into places dedicated mostly to that (FF.net,LiveJournal). So it doesn't bother me in the least. I am quite content to have my Queen Cousland, my Mahariel,my Amell, my Brosca... and they're my characters. I don't give a hoot if you don't like them. Nor do I care about the way someone else plays them, especially if it's a character archetype or storyline I dislike. If you don't like it, don't read it. I don't really understand why that is so difficult. Maybe if it were forced on everyone, I'd have a shred of sympathy.

Sorry if I'm a b!tchy today, I'm just not really in the mood.
