@sabreene -- your story is way too juicy to skimp on details. So your parents found out that you had dropped out your junior year, how did they react when they found out? Did they shrug it off or did they try to ground you or what?

I was too chicken to tell them in person, so I when they started talking about a graduation party I wrote them a letter. No one talked about it for a few days -- I think they were in shock. Especially since I hadn't been to school in 2 years. It was a pretty dramatic scene when we finally talked about it. They eventually got over it -- but  I think it took them a good year for my dad to face me without looking away! I think he felt guilty he'd been fooled, more than anything.

They couldn't really take me to task though -- It was kind of like... hey! I've been ditching school for two years! But, I haven't been hanging out with friends or doing drugs, I've been working! And going to the library! Because I'm so bad like that! And now I'm going to take my own money and go to jr. college! And keep my job!

My mom's punishment was that I had to keep my job and pay for jr college myself, to which I did the infamous teenage eyeroll, since that was my plan anyway.

Now we can all laugh about it. Especially since most months I pay their house payments!

Glad it worked out for the best in the end.  Thanks for sharing.

My graduating class had about 800 people in it. We had cliques, but it was kind of like cliques within cliques. It was just too large. If it had been small, I doubt I would've gotten away with taking myself out of it!
