Well I can understand it being seen as romantic, but doesn't have to be so, the way I see it. One can have non-romantic reasons for doing it. Or maybe with no reason at all, except being in the heat of the moment.

There are a lot of photoshop and GIMP tutorials. You can literally look up GIMP banner tutorials on Google and find a good one. I suggest doing that.

I think male romance is extremely different than female romance...  females, women like touchy feely...  long, slow, wet kisses that last forever. exploration and soft touching..     I think most men just want to get to the " golden ring" and the quicker the better.

But, I could be wrong!  (oops not exactly silent)

Hmmm, you get the face cupping in the Zevran/Dwarf female and both Zevran/Elf scenes.  Really, I think it's a bit odd that there are 5 different Zevran romance scenes (elf male and female are the same, the rest are different) when Leliana and Morrigan get the same (heh, even Leliana/Female) and Alistair's are the same as well.

But if you're having sex with someone, I would imagine there would be enough intimacy there that it's not creepy to hold someone's face.

For many, I guess kissing is more intimate than sex.  It's been many MANY years since I've been with someone other than my husband, but I cannot remember having a makeout session that didn't involve face touching.  But we are talking a couple of decades since having a makeout session with anyone but my husband, so maybe I just am not remembering correctly.

I agree. If it wasn't a romantic-love face cupping, then it would feel controlling. That wouldn't creep me out, but it would put me off. The whole thing would probably turn into a dominance fight. Which could make for some good fun, in itself

edit: thinking about it, it's the two handed face cupping that feels controlling -- one hand and you still have freedom of movement.
