Based on what authority though? Your say so? So we're essentially arguing with your specific definition of alpha/beta/omega? Or an actual written defined definition that we can all look at?
And how exactly does an alpha take initiative compared to a beta compared to an omega, and how does one develop an authoritative presence if one does not have one to begin with, especially in the animal kingdom where these terms are usually derived from?
lol I really must be feeling pretty crabby...I apologize again. I can't figure out how to say things nicely today at all.
Yeah, really. You ask me to list my definition, and then condemn it for being my definition.
Do you think it's any more or less silly to define an "Alpha" as "egotistical jerk?"
No, actually, I asked you to provide a source for your definition - your definition thus far consists of "alpha/beta/omega has to do with authoritative presence and initiative" but then fails to explain on what basis authoritative presence and initiatve has in being an alpha/beta/omega.
All that's going to do is devolve into a "you're wrong" "no, you are" argument because there is no clear basis for the argument in the first place.
Hence we need a solid definition of the terms as you are using them if we are going to discuss them at all.
If we're going to go on ethological definitions for alpha, then yeah "egotistical jerk" is silly because animals can't be egotistical or jerks. But if we're going to go on an alpha being something like the dominant animal who has all first rights to food, breeding, and location of a pack, then perhaps a human who fits that definition could indeed be an egotistical jerk.
Again, what is your actual definition of the terms?
