It may be correct, since whether or not he's king the child will still be of the Therin blood line.

 When you tell him it'll produce a child, he asks why would she want such a thing, "does she want an heir to the throne?" And if you tell him she just said he wouldn't see the child, he says, 'right until it marches up with an army to claim the throne"

The thing with all of it is...they totally expected everyone to make him king. What you are seeing when he is not is me and ejoslin sort of "sneaking" around the king talk, it is truly pathetic. There was no dialogue for non-king Alistair.

Kind of points towards a canon ending doesn't it .

He is pretty much an idiot. I never got why he couldn't escape a lousy cell with blood magic, when he could escape from the middle of the tower with templars and Gregoir and Irving all around him. Couldn't he just cut his hand with a bit of rock or bone or something, lying around on the floor?!

Honestly I don't know about a canon ending, but if you look at all the things that were cut, it is likely due to time/money constraints. Post landsmeet seems super rushed, when the beginning is pretty bug free.

Or they just ran out of time/money and decided to focus on one scenario almost exclusively >.> It does seem they want to make Alistair king the 'canon' choice. I don't really care, though xD Whatevah, whatevah I do what I want!
