I just read this in an interview and it makes me  because it confirms what I've been saying, that there is something dark in the elves' past that the Dalish origin and Nature of the Beast is dancing around but never quite gets to, but which we are likely to see in future stories.

"As a result, our elves had an empire, but it's fallen, and they've actually been enslaved. They've only just gotten out of that situation. They're a good three generations into being emancipated, and they live in ghettoes in the cities for the most part, except for the few that live out in the wilderness, are very xenophobic, and enraged about the crimes committed against them. They have a history of violence and betrayal that goes back, event after event after event, where the elves are almost persecuted for something no one remembers. And of course that's one of the great mysteries of the game, what exactly happened there."

Do you think it has anything to do with the fall of the Dales? The whole 'they couldn't be bothered to help against the second Blight so we sacked it' seems overly simplistic.

It's a wonder they don't have animations where limbs get chopped off, but that would probably be grosser than decaps because at least the mark is dead.

Do you think it has anything to do with the fall of the Dales? The whole 'they couldn't be bothered to help against the second Blight so we sacked it' seems overly simplistic.

My theory is that it is something older, relating to the creation of the darkspawn.  But so little is written about either the Dalish or the earlier elven empire that it is hard to tell.

If DA2 allows us to continue our Wardens, I hope this figures in, too, because my Dalish mage PC would be in prime position to encounter this in interesting ways.  That's a lot of "if's" and "hopes" so I don't expect it to happen.

So, I think after a week or two on Twitter, the novelty of seeing Steve Valentine's tweets is wearing off.  At first I thought every time, "HUSH, Alistair speaks!"  But a lot of the time he's talking about his phone or the band TV show.

Now, if he played Dragon Age, that would make for interesting tweeting.  I wonder who he would romance.    No one say the "L" word.  *glares at KoP and Axekix*
