ME2 has pretty fun FPS combat. The story isn't that great though, and not playing ME1 first would make it even less so.
And then there is Jack *gags*.
Jack was effing awesome. My Shepard would have been all over her if she was into girls. Alas, she is not. I settled for Thane lol

Eh, I kind of liked the romance but I definitely see your point. But to be honest, none of the male!Shepard romances weren't that great. Except for Tali, but I kinda felt like I was dating someone barely legal, which was no bueno.
This. Oh God, his voice is just awful. It's so robotic. A lot of people dislike Jennifer Hale's voice but I absolutely love it.
At least the male!Shepard had three romancable people. Fem!Shep has three people, but one person is absolutely not romancable (Jacob). Seriously, why did they make Hale sound like she would jump his bones at any moment.

I like to think Shepard doesn't have sex with her and they just smooch and snuggle because...wow, taking advantage of an emotional girl is just FAIL.

Short answer: Yes.Mel_Redux wrote...
CAn't I open a face I already ahve in the toolset? And do it that way?
1. Use the face replacer to extract the .mor file.
Use SOURCE FILE to pick any of your saved game. Select the .das of your saved game. In the DESTINATION line, pick .mor from the drop down menu and put in whatever name you want for the face you are extracting. Hit the green box to save it.
2. Open up toolset and then open up the .mor file you just saved. You won't see your character's face, but you can find the line to change your hair. Look for Morph Parts and look at line 2. Should start with hf_har_whatever. Just type in the name of the new hairstyle you want to use and save it.
3. Go back to facereplacer and this time, you are reversing what you did in step one. In SOURCE FILE, pick the .mor file you just saved. In DESTINATION line, choose from one of your saved games and then hit green box to do the swap.
4. Go into DAO and load up the saved game and check out your new style.
Edit: I just want to say that I know people open up .das saved games in toolset and type in the name of the .mor file to overwrite the face. It *is* much easier this way, but for some reason, it does not work after the first time for me. Doing it via FaceReplacer guarantees the swap and FaceReplacer also swaps faces for files that are too large to open in the toolset alone. I just really like what facereplacer can do so I feel it compliments the toolset nicely.
Edit 2: My above instructions are for faces made in the character creator. If originally created in toolset, then the above is redundant. Just saying. =p
When you open up the .mor file, look at line 2, like Gilsa said. Here's an image showing what lines go to what parts.

1. Yes, romances are shallow compared to DAO. There's no needless complications like being dumped for whatever (unless you're trying to score with two people at the same time). Know how you see arcade games where the guy is holding a big-ass trophy in one hand and a token babe in the other arm? It's the same concept. You're kicking ass and saving the world along with having that Lois Lane or Steve Trevor that thinks you're the gosh darn bee's knees. It provides a feel-good ending.
2. I am way more drawn in Mass Effect. I feel like I'm playing for me, myself, and I. I don't worry at all about what my companions think or if they're going to disapprove. I have way more freedom to say what I want and do what I want. In Dragon Age, I am playing from a bird's eye view. I am more aware of the world and people around me. I know that my decisions affect them, not just me, so I don't connect with my DA characters as much as I do with my Shepard. I just come alive with my Shepard.
3. Game controls are all about preferences. Some people like to micromanage with DAO. Some like the hands-on chaos of FPS. It takes me a bit of adjusting to get used to ME when I play it, but I absolutely love being zeroed in the moment. I'm not thinking about what my companions are doing -- sometimes I give them instructions, sometimes I leave them alone and let them do their jobs.
4. DAO replayability is high because no one really knows what is going to carry forward into DA2 and they want to have as many bases covered as possible. What if it turns out that our DA1 love interests have no future beyond origins? I think the interest level may drop off from there. I love the continuity in Mass Effect. I cannot wait to see my story arc with Kaidan complete in ME3 -- that is going to be so epic that it carried through three games like that. I can't say the same for DAO. I hate not knowing if there's a future with ANY of the romantic interests.

I wish the talented modders who create a cutscene where Alistair pulls you away from Howe's body after you killed him. I know this would only appeal to those with HNF characters. I just think it would be a powerful scene.
I know this is pages back but I just woke up :/
I'm annoyed as hell - Alistair keeps stealing my HNF's kill! She never gets to kill Howe herself - with the family blade.

Yeah I definitely see what you mean, especially on that last point. My "official" playthrough ended with the Morrigan romance which has the least closure... so having that go unresolved would hurt my interest in DA2. I might pick up ME 1/2 if I can catch them on sale. I still have a bunch of backed up games in my library though (like Crysis Warhead... which I STILL haven't played).Gilsa wrote...
