I love playing melee characters and fight games because I'm too nice IRL, and love to take out my agression with a xena-alter-ego :) I've recently taken up boxing at a local gym, which is pretty fun. I still feel like a total girl when I'm punching, though.

Hahaha!  The "girl-punch" is one of the hardest habbits new girls have to break :D

The funny thing is though, once they learn to let go and get their whole body into it they can be a lot more viscious than some of the guys.

I grew up with a strong woman roll model = my mum.
I have never known anything else :P

Case in point - when I was 7 mum walked into the kitchen and saw a man climbing in our 3rd floor apartment window. He was armed.
She hurled abused at him and charged - he was so scared he steped backwards off the pipe and fell 3 floors.
When the police caught him a week later he was still limping.
He was a murderer in our area at the time (in the 80's) police caught him when he came back to get the nurse next to our apartment.
He had mistakenly climbed in the wrong window/

My dad makes them himself, too. We actually bought him some kind of bullet spinning machine thingy for father's day. I'm not exactly sure what it does, but I know the guy at the gun store raved about it. lol.

For the bullets or shells?  We have a shell polisher, but I don't know of anything else that spins.  Most out our equipment is older, stuff my dad's had for longer than I've been alive, and it still works great.

Grasshopper pie is usually made with creme de menthe and something lovely and chocolate - this is mint ice cream with chocolate cookies!

We typically do .357-.45s.  It's easier to just buy .9mm and .22s.  Haven't actually done any myself in a long time.  It's usually all my dad doing the work.  Haven't been to the range in forever either.  :/

I actually know about zilch when it comes to handguns. The closest I've come is hunting moose. And moving moose shaped cardboard.

I've got my husband convinced to teach me combatives (mixed martial arts used in...well combat) when he gets home. He's been certified as an instructor for a while but I never asked because I felt silly. Mind you I didn't feel silly at all learning to shoot, and owning my own 9mm, or my Father in Laws .357. And it didn't make me feel silly to spend an entire football season learning the game. Ok, that was to save my sanity admittedly. It was either learn the game and thus enjoy it...or be invisible every sunday and monday...lol

So, next time he deploys...I'll have martial training, my 9mm (well if I ever get to buy another), and my German Shepherd.

Awesome!  You'll be watching MMA in no time!  Then you can join the real Alistair fan club!

heh thank ya...I'm kinda attached to him. He's like Alistair+Zevran in real life. Tis ridiculously awesome. He opens doors for me, meets my requests with the gentlemanliness of Alistair, and has a penchant for smartass and a minor obsession with his hair (or lack there of...must never be more than 1/4 inch or it bugs him, he shaves bald), yet has the whole Zev innuendo thing goin on too...I wuvs him.

I've never held any sort of weapon in my hand and only did taekwondo for about a month when I was 10 before my mom decided she didn't want to pay for it >.>

I think me not having access to weapons is for the best, though. Clumsy as hell and a total hothead...someone would end up dead (probably me accidentally shooting myself).

When it comes to hand to hand fighting experience for me, it's mostly taking notes about what the guys kicking mine ass do.

...yeah.

I've never done much weapon training either.  I did some amateur fencing for a semester in college but that's it really.  My brother was big into kendo though.

I find the whole idea of owning guns incredibly creepy. Different culture and all that.

Here the only people who own guns are farmers and... well nutcases really. And some of the farmers are nutcases as well.

Oh, plus all those pesky criminals.

When he's home we watch UFC quite often. I'm personally a Randy Couture fan:P. Brock Lesner is ok too, Rampage Jackson I like.

What cracks me up, is hubs is about 5'7 and 145. So his new soldiers tend to underestimate him by alot, since he's smaller and about 18 years older. Right up until they find themselves on the ground begging for mercy. When he first enlisted, his plattoon tried to lock him in an ammo cage. one of them was about 5'11 200, and ended up almost getting his arm broken in an armbar. Hubby comes home grinning, bruised and scraped head to toe...they never did get him in that cage...lol

But he looks all sweet and innocent... (last time I swear:P)

I've shot firearms, and gone to the shooting range a few times -- when I was younger my dad took me up in the mountains to teach me how to shoot a shotgun, and other weapons -- including a crossbow. This was after he gave up being a hippy to be a survivalist. lol.

It doesn't ever break your immersion that you can just steam roll through everything? >.>

Combat is  a part of the story for me.

Never.  It breaks my immersion if I have to reload and start over, or even if my PC "dies" and then just gets back up again.

I would say that combat is a part of the story for me in my head, but the actual gameplay is so artificial anyway that it bears little relation.  I mean, how immersive is it to Pause and set up your attack?

I just like "hard" fights to actually feel hard.  That's why I play on NM without pots (and tbh you can still steamroll even then once you get the hang of it).  It's exciting to me to barely scrape through a fight.  If I could just stomp Cauthrien or Flemeth without having to worry about positioning/cc/attack chains... it would feel lame to me, and wouldn't really match up to the reputations these people are supposed to have.

It's all in what you're used to.  I'm used to Easy, but you still can't sleep through a fight like Cauthrien.  But I know it instantly if my husband changes the difficulty because it feels like either we're being really, really lame, or the healing isn't working, or something like that.  I've played enough that I'm sure I could do it, but why?  To me it is like adding pointless tedium to the game.

Im totally accident prone but learned to shoot when I was 10 :)
My grandfather (who then taught mum) was a sniper so he was good at teaching.

I have never managed to shoot myself or anyone else :)
It was a lot of fun - but the real big weapons (eg combat weapons) had a really bad kick back
I was covered in bruises for awhile until I got used to it.

Oh and my first go at shooting his pistol from the war one handed ended up with me shooting the sky.

Learning to shoot, taking fighting classes and learning other weapons actually helps with being unco-ordinated :P
I would stay away from nunchakas (is that how to spell it?) They can hurt when you get yourself

I grew up in a house full of guns.  Shooting was a way of life.  I'm a pretty good archer, too, though it's been years so I'm not sure I can say that anymore.

It's still a lot different if someone else is shooting or hacking at you.

the only weapon we own at the moment is his hunting rifle. I can't shoot a rifle. I'm left-eyed, but can't shoulder it on that side, even though I'm left handed. But if push came to shove I could swing the sucker at someone's head.

Ugh I hate Lesnar.  I can't wait for Carwin to KO him.  Are you going to watch Couture's upcoming fight with Toney?  It's going to be epic!  I'm picking Toney personally.

I don't own anything here. But when my parents left CA, they moved to Idaho and now they have a whole little arsenal. Pretty crazy, actually.

My parents craziness gets the top of the page?! Nooo.
