I've got my husband convinced to teach me combatives (mixed martial arts used in...well combat) when he gets home. He's been certified as an instructor for a while but I never asked because I felt silly. Mind you I didn't feel silly at all learning to shoot, and owning my own 9mm, or my Father in Laws .357. And it didn't make me feel silly to spend an entire football season learning the game. Ok, that was to save my sanity admittedly. It was either learn the game and thus enjoy it...or be invisible every sunday and monday...lol

So, next time he deploys...I'll have martial training, my 9mm (well if I ever get to buy another), and my German Shepherd.

Awesome!  You'll be watching MMA in no time!  Then you can join the real Alistair fan club!

Alistair Overeem, future Strikeforce HW champ!

When he's home we watch UFC quite often. I'm personally a Randy Couture fan:P. Brock Lesner is ok too, Rampage Jackson I like.

Ugh I hate Lesnar.  I can't wait for Carwin to KO him.  Are you going to watch Couture's upcoming fight with Toney?  It's going to be epic!  I'm picking Toney personally.

What cracks me up, is hubs is about 5'7 and 145. So his new soldiers tend to underestimate him by alot, since he's smaller and about 18 years older. Right up until they find themselves on the ground begging for mercy. When he first enlisted, his plattoon tried to lock him in an ammo cage. one of them was about 5'11 200, and ended up almost getting his arm broken in an armbar. Hubby comes home grinning, bruised and scraped head to toe...they never did get him in that cage...lol

But he looks all sweet and innocent... (last time I swear:P)

Hahaha, badass!  It's too cute the way you talk about him.  Really

If he's home (dunno when the fight is really) we would, without him though it's not so much fun for me. Just like football. I didn't watch all last season cuz it SUCKS without him yelling and jumping on the couch...lol

And thanks...i think?...lol My kids don't think it's cute when he's home and we get all mushy. They go "oh gross!!":P Silly kids.

I think me not having access to weapons is for the best, though. Clumsy as hell and a total hothead...someone would end up dead (probably me accidentally shooting myself).

I've never done much weapon training either.  I did some amateur fencing for a semester in college but that's it really.  My brother was big into kendo though.

I grew up in a house full of guns.  Shooting was a way of life.  I'm a pretty good archer, too, though it's been years so I'm not sure I can say that anymore.

It's still a lot different if someone else is shooting or hacking at you.

Yeah it is.  There's an old fighter saying, "everyone has a plan, until they get hit." :D

I never did any shooting or anything like that.  I did archery in like basic gym back in grade school, but I sucked at it.  I remember scraping up my supporting hand with the feather on the back of the arrow every time I'd release... yeah

I did it some when I was younger, then stopped when I had my girly phase in high school.  Then I did an archery class in college with all these macho hunter types and me the only girl.  My first few classes were pretty amateur, and then one day it was like a light went on and I started hitting the bullseye almost every time.  The guys in my group about crapped their drawers.  That was the best part.  :D

When I saw Geena Davis competing in the Olympics, it was a vision of what might have been.  Ah well...  I'm sure I'd suck again now.

This is OT, but I'm arguing with amazon.com, and they think I'm overreacting. I've been receiving anonymous gifts from my wishlist, no one I know says they are sending them, and Amazon says it's against their privacy policy to tell me who it is. I find it completely creepy, and want it to stop. Am I overreacting?

Hmm yeah don't think he'll be back by then. We haven't been given a date, all I know is no fireworks on July  4th...lol And I figure these kids will appreciate someday how lovey their parents were...it's a good foundation for them. Yeah that's it!!

Hmm?  Can't you torrent the whole series?  It's like 12 years old now or something isn't it?

That was my first thought.  I'll keep looking, but older torrents tend to die.  And there have been newer releases by other group, but they appear to only have them on bots, which irks me.

It makes Alistair sad, too.

No, that is creepy.... cause doesn't that mean this person knows your address and what not?  You're sure it's not someone you know, huh?

Going back to what we were talking about way upthread, I made some videos of the Dalish talk with Leliana.  Leli doesn't come off too badly overall.  She starts badly but it depends on how sensitive your PC is, I think, and how readily you are willing to accept her apologies, as to how hard you take it.

Leliana + Dalish PC take one

again with slightly different dialogue choices

You'd be surprised at how much info can be retained as muscle memory.  Even after a long layoff it's not always as hard as you might think to get back into the swing of things!  I had pins put in my ankle when I was 15 and was back kicking better than ever less than a year later.
Life's to short not to spend it doing what you love, right? :D

On a side note, have I completely derailed the Ali thread?  I actually wasn't trying to this time...

I've made everything private, so now no one can use it, and put a block on my acct, which is just a pain. They say it's probably someone I know having fun, and so I am "overreacting". I said if they could tell me who it was, then i would know if I am really overreacting, but they won't release the name. It's been going on for a two weeks, and I feel like I've talked to everyone I know to ask, including my ex, and they all deny it. I wouldn't put it past my ex to have a bit of fun on me, but he's too cheap to send all the gifts!

Normally on a wishlist they can't see your address, but today, after making everything private last week, I still received a package. I've been on hold for the past hour, trying to get someone who will do something about it. I feel like I can hear the eyerolling of the employees over the phone.

She really isn't that bad, but you'd think that a bard would be more eloquent.  :P  Ah well, she realizes the error of her ways by the end, and confirms it later.  My Dalish is willing to forgive her, but she was never a shem hater to begin with, not like some play it.
