How do you guys get the camera so close to the characters?

Order your group to "stay" in position and then hop on a companion. Get behind the PC and pan the camera around. The PC will be seen up close on your monitor depending on how far/close the companion is in proximity to the PC. I can make a quick youtube video if this does not make sense to you.

The theory says that our interest in whatever is reduced the more one acquires it.
My interest in Morrigan on the otherhand increases with each pic
Including ones I've already seen.

He agreed to the ritual, but when I got to Morrigan I told her no. So we were both there. It wasn't a real game though, I was just testing out lines

If I knew how to change it I'd edit out the flouncy puffy feather thing and just make it flat at the top but with the detail doodads

Indeed.  Mage hats are hideous.  I reserve most of my mod love for tmp and Skip the Fade, but No Helmet Hack is pretty cool, too.

But it's fun to punish Wynne (and sometimes Morrigan, depending on whether I have her with me at Redcliffe) with the hideous cowls. 

I even threw one on Anders because he kept getting killed by Blight werewolves.

The enchanter's cowl isn't too bad, its like a loose cap draped over the brow. Even the little feather thing in the top isn't that bad. (My favorite mage helm) though usually I just remake them all on WF and do them as helms.
