To those interested, Ali means noble / elevated in Arabic and it is a boy's name (Trivia: the first person to be called that is my ancestor). And yea I dislike that nickname because I don't see how a Fereldan is going to have a name like that.
@ Mel. Nice haircut.

Because it can be a shortened version of Alistair? In English, 'Ali' can be the shortened form of Alison.

EDIT:  Also, I hate the name Al. Reminds me of a lumberjack.

Well, the male Dalish default name is Theron, so it could easily be short for that. I hate making up elf names because it's hard to be creative, so I thought of Ron and went with it because it could work as a nickname for Theron.

I really thought non king alistair shouldn't be hardened, but...maybe it' just me, but the whole relationship talk kinda sucks when he isn't. I danged near just ended it when I heard that. It' like you gave yourself to him, you supported him, you used your influence to not make hi king because thats what he wanted, and yet you get the whole commitmentphobic response. Kinda made me feel like he was saying "hey sex is great and all, but I can't tell you that I'll hold on to you"

Alistair seems to be under the impression that he's still a candidate for King in that conversation.

@cmessaz -- the worst Alistair/dwarf kiss is when you kiss him while in a group. Somehow the dwarf is too tall and stares up at the sky when he leans in. (I've tried clicking him from afar or standing close to him, but it is just wonky.) The other kisses are pretty much the same so you can pick from whatever:

1. first time he gets kissed and says "You want to? Right now? Who am I to argue?"
2. when he gets kissed at camp and says "Talking isn't what you have in mind. Got it."

Edit: I really, really, really like Charsen's dwarf/Loghain kiss the best, btw. Do you want me to beg him to allow him to use that kiss for the Alistair mod?

I might go with what I already had in mind then.  ;)  The thesis needs to be over so I can get back to fun stuff!

Incidentally, I've been spreading Ron love over twitter and he has converted another person.  Also incidentally, a story idea popped in my head, but it's kind of a disturbing but intriguing idea all at the same time and I don't know if I should write it....

Have I mentioned I hate the name Betty too? I like pretty weird names though, like Emmett and Nathaniel or Grace and Anastasia.

But it's a girl's name then. Oh well, nicknames can be like this I guess.

I have no nicknames for him. Or anyone else except Zevran and Leliana.

Are you really surprised? His full name is The Ron F*cking Mahariel.

And yukidama wins for the "You Can Call Me Al" reference.

Hah, yeah. It's why I dislike it. Much like in Star Wards where Anakin became "Annie". I laughed every time.

You don't call Morrigan Morri? I imagine my characters have nicknames for everyone, like moi. Morri, Zev (but that one was pretty much told to her so -shrug-), Leli, and Ogh. Yes, I imagine my characters call Oghren Ogh

Oh, yeah, I did actually hate that nickname. But his name is so awesome without the shortening of it.

was going to name her son Anakin before his father interfeered:whistle:

Yea, when George seriously expects us to believe that the ultimate badass, Darth Vader

was called "Annie", then you know something is terribly wrong.

EDIT: @ Kryy. No I don't have a nickname for Morrigan, though I shorten it to Morri here for convenience sake.

Not with Cmessaz's mod installed. She fixed that thank GOD, but he's still , if unhardened, unwilling to commit to your relationship being as (not more) important than honor/duty. He essentially acts like there can't be any more than there is to it.

There's a reason he turned: the Emperor promised that once he was a Sith people would start taking him seriously.

And I'm trying to think if ANY character in the game, even mine, have nicknames and I'm coming up with nothing. I don't even call Zevran 'Zev' and that's canon! Posted Image

So in other words...unhardened Alistair will never get married unless someone (like the PC or Eamon) forces him to at the Landsmeet or for heir purposes.

Huh, I think I'm just more personal with my friends than others are. Having a nickname is a sign of affection for me.
