lol Honestly? I don't understand the gush either and I'm the cause of it. There is some weird magical attraction that I have to Ron that is utterly inexplicable.  Lots of other people have cute PCs - my Orlesian was a pretty good looking guy (he looks almost like Fergus' twin, oops), but there is something about Ron that I absolutely swoon over.  I wish I understood it.  

Maybe that the game itself gives you no Dalish elf to romance? You get Zevran who is half Dalish but in personality all antivan.  Even with Ron's head it woudlnt' be Ron, it wouild be Zevran trying to look like Ron.
I replaced Alistair's head with Bann Teagan's (We all know how much I squee over him) but its not the same, its just Alistair looking like Teagan. 
Once I did the tent time scenes and ran half a game with him looking like this I switched back to Yuki-stair (Redcliffe weirded me out). 
I think its more the "I can't have him" that has Ron's appeal to you, or at least thats what I think it was for me and Teagan.  I still love the BannHammer but hes best as the NPC yoiu can't touch.  Just gush over.

I see Ron as the perfectly awesome parody. Women want him, men want to be him. He can kill several bad guys with a single swipe of his sword, and smirks while doing it! He can talk anyone into agreeing with him! He saves kingdoms! Defeats the Archdemon single-handedly! He's The Ron F*cking Mahariel!!

....at least, this is what Ron has become in my head.

That reminds me of my friend who had a D&D character who adopted a persona like this.

Picture this:  A halfling who talks like Zevran.  "I am Roberto Roberto!  You may call me Roberto Squared!  The woman, they love me.  The men, they want to be me."

I'm the last person to get all busy with a PC, it just amuses me since (as I mentioned to Sandi) he was created on a night when the thread was all Dalish elf chatter and I was bored. I made him in an attempt to Get the DE Origin. I like him a lot, but he's not compelling to play any more than I normally would. It's mostly just fun to turn him into a nonsensical cult figure that will never live up to the expectations others have for him.

And it's managed to help with the EST Deadzone today, so it's not all bad, I suppose.

I had trouble with the chargenmorph.  I only got them to show up when I threw out More Hairstyles completely, and then re-installed Tucked Hair.  Now I'm afraid to log Esra on because she's going to be missing the back of her head.

It might be - but I'm actually pretty okay with the Tamlen half-romance you get.  lol I really don't understand it and have no explanation for it....I just go with it and beg SurelyForth for pictures and then have to force myself to close them to get more work done.    Some things in this world are just inexplicable! (lol Some scientist I make, right?  This is why I'm getting out of the research business!)

I'm sure the idea of Ron is a lot more awesome than Ron himself.  Have you ever seen that commercial for Dos Equis, with The Most Interesting Man in the World?  That, to me, is Ron.

I would file that under "what a relief."  Although with Brand having Morrigan hair, it does give DR nightmare flashbacks.

Poor Alistair, they always make the man who does it look like a sacrificial lamb...but it woudl be FAR worse to make it look like he actually enjoyed the DR.

Could you imagine the female fanbase screaming at the devs for Alistair enjoying wading through Morrigan's swamp?

The creepiest was Brand talking with Morrigan's voice. I can't even begin to describe it. 

And I love the Addais quarreling over Anora. It's adorable (and I'm sure you love hearing that). If my bf wasn't terrified of message boards, we'd probably be fighting about hardening Alistair or duking it out in a Z v. A thread.

Like I told my husband this morning, "cute" is not exactly what I'm going for when I'm lambasting Anora on a serious thread.    But if we add to the general amusement on the board, what can I say.  [zevran]  It's a living.  [/zevran]

The really funny thing is that my current avatar is my sneaky rogue HNF who ended up Anora's nemesis, and my husband is forced to post with her as his face.  It's like Eren is hatching this big plot to usurp Anora's fanbase.  Muahahaha!

Alas, The Warden is kind of a MarySue magnet...I mean, when two people defeat something that only dozens/hundreds of Wardens before were needed it's kind of got "Mary Sue" stamped all over it.  You have to RP pretty hard to give your Warden faults, and even then, you're still pretty BAMF.   And I think that aspect appeals to a lot of people, especially your more casual players, I would think.  The people in this thread, for instance, usually seem to go to pretty extensive lengths to make their Wardens not so perfect in RP. *shrugs*

Yeah, your Warden basically has some of the best fighting skills in all of Ferelden, at least. Still, I've noticed that if I just start listing all my character's flaws she sounds like a horrible person.

I guess that's a good sign on the 'avoiding a Mary Sue' front even if it is depressing.

I used the Face Replacer to extract Brand's face as a .mor file and then renamed it to override Morrigan's file (hf_genfl_morrigan.mor).
