OMG I have a newfound respect for the people who made the BSC mod. This toolset is a pain in the patella.

Oh, god, this really got to me in the toolset. It broke my heart. This is a non-hardened Alistair at Adore level when you put Anora on the throne and letting Loghain live:

PC: "You're right. Anora, take the crown."
AL: "You're siding with her? How could you do this to me? You of all people?"
PC: "I thought you hated the idea of being king."
AL: "This isn't just about the kingship. I guess I always knew I didn't deserve to be happy. I just...didn't expect you to agree. Especially in front of all of Ferelden."
PC: "Why does this have to be the end?"
AL: "I-I can't do it. I can't. Ask me for a pound of my flesh, or all the gold in Orlais, but don't ask me to accept that monster as a brother. I guess I don't have any choice, do I? I'm leaving."

*cue Anora asking for his execution*

Hrm. Looking for it. The conversation trees in the toolset are kind of tricky. I'm getting better at it, but it'll take me a few min. I'm not sure if there is one for love/unhardened.

I am a friggin twit.  *points to the post above your sad panda one*  That's the lead-up to it.  There isn't one specifically love/adore.  it just says 'at least friendly'.

*chuckles* You know, you need to embrace the pain. Like I tell my students, there is something compelling about feeling the things that make you hurt. I'm not saying become an emo, but look for things that truly make you feel in all emotions, not just the happy ones.

Oh!  Oh!  Man, the VO directions in the toolset are incredibly helpful into seeing what chars are really things.  I know this is off-topic, but I just found this:

PC:  "What do you know about justice?  You left Cailan to die."
Loghain:  "Warden, Cailan was Maric's son.  Had there been any chance of reaching him at Ostagar, I would have fought to my last breath to save him."  *VO directions - "He believes this.  It's not true, exactly, but he believes it."*

Is this actually appearing correctly in game? The flag is set to alistair adore, so if his approval is love, i bet you aren't getting the right dialogue.

So very worth it. *U* I made a save file immediately after that battle with The Withered (took a lot of pauses and whatnot; the transition to the cutscene is really fast) just so I can load back and giggle whenever I want to. x3





Did anyone else find it incredibly sexy how he said it would have been so much more interesting keeping the PC at court? I can't help but think he had a lustful undertone when he said it. <3

LOL I LOVE the expression on his face in the middle picture...that just ...Okay now I KNOW its sweet naughty things he is whispering in PC's ear...Look at that mischievous expression!

You think reading it in the toolset is heartbreaking? I got this on my first playthrough. It's a little different, but here's how it went down for me in Love status, unhardened, VO comments in parenthesis as usual. Brace yourself for some tl;dr:

PC: I accept your surrender.
Alistair: I didn't just hear you say that. You're going to let him live? After everything he's done?! Kill him, already! (flabbergasted)
Riordan: Wait! There is another option.
Riordan: The teyrn is a warrior and general of renown. Let him be of use. Let him go through the joining.
PC: You want to make him a Warden? Why?
Riordan: There are three of us in all of Ferelden. And there are... compelling reasons to have as many Wardens on hand as possible to deal with the archdemon. (pointing out what should be obvious -- they can't win without more Wardens)
Anora: The Joining itself is oftan fatal, is it not? If he survives, you gain a general. If not, you have your revenge. Doesn't that satisfy you? (she is keeping her tone as even as she can -- she desperately wants her father to survive, even if she has to put him through the Joining)
Alistair: Absolutely not! Riordan, this man abandoned our brothers and then blamed us for the deed! He hunted us down like animals. He tortured you! How can we simply forget that? (outraged)
PC: Riordan has a point, we should put him through the Joining.
Alistair: Joining the Wardens is an honor, not a punishment! Name him a Warden and you cheapen us all! I will not stand next to him as a brother. I won't!
PC: We need all the help we can get, Alistair.
Alistair: Loghain is a traitor! We need him like we need to be stabbed in the back! Or have you forgotten how his being a great general didn't help the last time?
Alistair: I didn't want to be king. I still don't. But... if that's what it takes to see Loghain get justice, then I'll do it. I'll take the crown.
Anora: Listen to this! Can you see how disastrous a king he'd be, putting his own selfish desires above the needs of his country? You can't seriously support him. (a bit of anger is showing through -- she can't believe the player might actually be paying Alistair any heed)
PC: You're right. Anora, take the crown.
Alistair: You're siding with her? How could you do this to me? You of all people?
PC: I thought you hated the idea of being king.
Alistair: This isn't just about the kingship.
Alistair: I guess I always knew I didn't deserve to be so happy. I just... didn't expect you to agree. Especially in front of all of Ferelden.
PC: Alistair, don't be hysterical.
Alistair: I'm not. I'm perfectly lucid. I will not stand beside Loghain. And neither should you.
Alistair: I guess I don't have any choice, do I? I'm leaving.
Anora: I'm afraid it's not so simple as that, Alistair. (a bit regretful -- she is about to call for Alistair's execution)
Alistair: You already got what you wanted. Your murdering father gets a place amongst the Grey Wardens. What else could you want from me?
Anora: Your life, unfortunately. So long as you live, rebellions can be raised in your name. Our land cannot endure another civil war. I must call for your execution. (she takes no pleasure in this -- she is speaking with regal authority)
PC: No. You owe me a boon. Let him go, Anora.
Anora: This is what you would ask? Very well. Though I think it a mistake. (she has no choice but to comply, but she doesn't like it at all)
Anora: Alistair, you may leave on condition that you swear before this Landsmeet that you renounce all claim to the throne for yourself and all your heirs. (speaking with regal authority before a large crowd)
Alistair: That's what it'll take, huh? Fine. I don't want anything to do with this place or any of you people. Ever. I swear it.
Alistair: I... I guess this is goodbye. I had no idea it would end like this for us.
PC: Don't go.
Alistair: This wasn't my idea. I had these dreams... they don't matter now.
Alistair: Take care of yourself.

And completely in character for unhardened Alistair, which I find absolutely tragic.  For his entire life, his happiness had NEVER mattered.  And at that moment for Alistair, the one person he thought cared actually doesn't.  Work with abused kids sometime.  This is what they absolutely believe and it's effing heartbreaking.
