I loved Angel, also. In some ways I enjoyed it more, but it really depended on the season of the show.

I know it's a plot device but ignoring that...why on earth did the gypsies who cursed Angel only give him a soul when he was miserable? I know they wanted him to suffer and were pissed at him and all but wouldn't giving him a soul all the time be more practical? For all they knew he'd let himself get complacent and be happy and then his evil side would come out forever and all their hard work would be undone.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the show "Angel", not the person. It was a pretty big flaw in their logic, the one moment of happiness and he's evil thing. The only thing I can think is they never thought he'd attain any that moment of happiness.

Well, the show is about the person. And if they never thought he'd be happy then why bother specifying 'he has a soul...unless he's ever happy.' And it really makes you wonder how he was able to date Buffy for so long if he was never happy with her...that also is kind of strange.

What's your approval?  I got that at 33 Neutral.

I think I lost it with the Zevran encounter, I took -5 approval. I reloaded and did it again and FINALLY got it with no approval change from anyone. In fact, Noone said a word. i'm going to video it, since I know a few were having trouble doing that.

Well, the show is about the person. And if they never thought he'd be happy then why bother specifying 'he has a soul...unless he's ever happy.' And it really makes you wonder how he was able to date Buffy for so long if he was never happy with her...that also is kind of strange.

A moment of true happiness (as corny as that sounds) is completely different from being content, or happy with a person. In order to attain that moment of real happiness he had to let go and forget about every thing that weighted on his soul. While he was "happy" and in love with Buffy, that never could overcome his guilt and angst from his past actions. But during the big "O" (again, corny, but oh well), he could forget everything except that one pure ecstatic moment of happiness.

But I talk too much of Buffy and Angel. I must do Alistair penance. If I could open up my picture files from work, that is. It's not behaving, d'oh!
