The guy in the mage origin says the same. I think that the Chantry is only willing to allow one of their Circle mages to become a Warden at any given time so if they want more then they'll need to invoke the Rite of Conscription and when it's not an emergency situation like a Blight or intelligent darkspawn like in Awakening then they do not want to deal with the repercussions.LadyDamodred wrote...

Well it's laggy, and youtube killed the quality, but you can hear the conversation and see it well enough. The persuade check was "from the grey wardens of course" and then I just agreed with Irving. Interesting little tidbit about Mage wardens in there.
Wynne confronts Jaina
You know, that whole 'Only 1 mage warden at one time' thing is such total BS. 1) It makes no sense and 2) You can have up to 3 in awakening, so...
I'm willing to bet it was a story hold over that got cut, and the dialogue was never adjusted.
And yes, I know there were more than one mage Warden at Soldier's Peak but that was a long time ago and Chantry policy might have changed since then or perhaps only the Ferelden Chantry decided this when the Wardens were let back in twenty years ago.
Also, I was reading a DA story and one of the characters mispronounced Zevran 'Zevron' and it reminded me of, well...
That's what I was going to say. Wasn't it Dryden that got the wardens banished? If so, they may have adopted the one mage rule after that. And by Awakening, the PC has changed the Wardens a bit anyhow, plus like Sarah said, you conscript Anders to save him from the chantry and help with the darkspawn so that would be an exception. I don't count Velanna, she only joins for what she sees as "power" she can use to find her sister. She can (and usually is by me) be refused, and she leaves after.
Also, I was reading that same story and thinking the same thing...lol
