There's nothing to suggest. It's not like if someone posted here, the others jumped to their throat, is it? And it depends a lot of what the newcomer would say, how would say it and so on.

We really can't control idea/impression/feeling eyond not outright hurting anyone's feelings on purpose. If everyone here edited and censored themselves for that, then it becomes less fun for everyone. As it is, we do pretty well. We can be annoyed about a post and say so, and still be talking 10 minutes later. We can ask a question and get an answer. As can anyone else that pops in wanting to contribute. Even our own posts get swallowed up on occasion. 

I'm not saying that.  I'm not suggesting self censorship, I actually hate it.
It is my impression, and I though to share it.

There are a couple of times I've been sorely tempted to share my Alistair-pictures that have been burning on my harddisk for ages, but as it is, the tone of the thread has driven me away. Why? Because it feels intimidating for someone who already doesn't hold the membership card to the little backscratchers' club. I've seen at least two newbies posting on-topic to this thread being completely ignored and forgotten, while regulars' off-topic jokes and are greeted with mirth and friendly jibe-wars of epic proportions. Now, I am 100% positive that no one of the regulars purposefully treat newcomers this way; it's just the nature of the beast. I do have to admit myself that on other forums and in the most scariest medium of them all called Real Life, I tend to pay more attention to my friends than complete strangers. But you guys have to understand that from a stranger's point of view that is often frustrating. Sometimes a single "Welcome" can go a long way.

I have to stress that I mean no offense with anything I say. Really. And boy, do I feel bad and stoopid about the fact that my first post in this thread ended up to be about this, and not those Alistair pictures still taking space on my harddrive. See, I'm still optimistic about sharing those pics some day. In this very thread, even.

Well welcome lucious, and I do mean Welcome!  We always welcome new Alistair screenies!!

I have never seen someone come on here, introduce themselves, and be ignored.  Granted, there are over 1800 pages, so I have missed a lot.  But if someone, such as yourself, comes on and introduces themselves, they are not ignored.

Like I said before, it took me a while to "get noticed".  Its the natture of the beast,  Everyone is the new kid at some point.

Seriously, one day I'll learn to shut up and keep drinking beer.
