I don't ever try to change people's minds. I don't think that would ever end up working. And excuse am I trying to hide behind. I am not ignorant of the fact I could have also decided not to comment on whatever it was that bothered me but I made a choice to do so and every other person - including you - who got involved from that point also made a choice to comment on what she said or what I said.Serissia wrote...

Well you would be wrong then. I don't want to start fights or deliberately get provocative although given the recent problems that have started from my posts I've well-aware that they often come off like that. I have also been told that I present my opinions as facts but saying 'so I think that' or 'this isn't fact but my opinion' before stating something that is clearly an opinion is highly unnecessary. Annoying, perhaps, but unless you aren't familiar with the subject material then it shouldn't be misleading. It's like when people say that Isolde and Teagan were having an affair without feeling the need to preface it by saying 'I feel based on how the pair interacted that Isolde and Teagan were having an affair.' Unless you haven't gotten that far or feel you've somehow missed a letter/conversation explicitly stating this then you're going to understand that it's an opinion. I do try to remember to preface my opinions with the appropriate 'THIS IS JUST AN OPINION' words but clearly I don't always remember to.
Still, if I just have one post saying 'I don't like that word usage' and other people jump on that and start defending it then you can't place the blame solely on me. Other people - including yourself - are free to read it, go 'that's nice', and resuming whatever it was that you were talking about.
You can't truly expect to hide behind that excuse after just jumping on someone for the same reason though.
I've found that a lot of people use the almost absolute veil of anonymity that the internet offers to start arguments that have ultimately no consequences. You can ****** people off online all day and night w/o true worry of them say, stabbing you in the face. You can take that statement however you wish to.
I generally try to stay out of the opinion based debates. It's a futile and pointless gesture. What's the point in trying to change someone's mind about something so insignificant as a video game? That's generally what the conversations end up boiling down to.
I could go off and find a really biting rant about how much someone thought Alistair sucked as a character and repost it here and while that would be provocative and I would realize that it would almost certainly start something I would not be forcing anyone to respond.
Someone phrased something poorly and I commented on that. That is all. Someone else chose to ask me about it and so I chose to elaborate, other people chose to point out that that wasn't what she meant, she herself chose to agree that that wasn't what she meant, and you chose to have a non-sequitor response (imo, of course, as it's not a fact) and then when I chose to ask for clarification, you chose to yell at me about my choices to comment on semantics issues that I have. No one is being forced to do anything and the only choices that I can really be held responsible for are mine. I can't 'start something' alone, you know, and I am under no illusion that getting into an argument about semantics is important in the slightest. Hell, I don't feel any argument about anything that has or will ever occur in this thread is really all that important.
